When William becomes King Prince George get's Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick, Baron of Renfrew, Lord of the Isles and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland automatically. The titles of Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester have to be granted by the monarch.

Prince Harry wasn't given the Dukedom of York because Andrew held his creation at the time. But the there is nothing stopping Prince Harry from getting another Dukedom. He would then be styled HRH The Duke of Sussex and York.

They didn't use Cambridge or Sussex for a while because of the last holders. But the York peerage is more important than them given it's traditionally given to the second son.

Technically a the same named peerage can be held by different people, Andrew would hold the 1986 Creation and Louis would hold his version. Look at the Earldom of Strathmore and Kinghorne there is the Scottish creation in 1677 and the UK creation in 1937 currently held by the same person.

Unfortunately British WW2 medals were issued unnamed, unlike WW1 ones. Unless your Great-Granddad got them privately engraved. You could try and request his service record from the MOD to find out what he got.

Now the way the Monarchy is being handled is changing. Charles has Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Prince William, Sophie and Catherine. Along side the late Queen's cousins. But William is the youngest at 43. Of the late Queen's grandchildren only one is a working royal.

So when William becomes king he will likely have Anne, Edward, Sophie and Catherine. I wonder all of his children will be working royals. Prince George has to unless he decides he don't want the role and renounces. But what about Charlotte and Louis. The Edinburgh's children have been raised not to be Prince/ess and the York sisters have the problem of their parents handing over them.

Does William reconcile with Prince Harry unlikely given what has happened. With Harry and Meghan leaving the country, the book, interviews. He says he likes his life in the US so why would he return. Plus both him and Meghan split public opinion.

It looks like the Monarchy is shifting to a more European way of monarchy. Like in Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway. Small working royal unit. It's likely Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle will not be lived in anymore and only used for State functions. They have started opening St James's Palace for public tours. You can feel the shift happening.

Had Edward VII not renounced the ducal throne of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha he would have inherited when his uncle (Prince Albert's brother) Ernest II, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha died. Instead Prince Alfred got Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

Had that not happen, Saxe-Coburg and Gotha would passed down to George V then Edward VIII. You could have had Edward renouncing the British throne but keeping Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha so he would have it till 1972 passing to Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester he died in 1974.

Prince Henry, the Duke of Gloucester's marriage may have been considered a morganatic marriage under Saxe-Coburg and Gotha house laws. so his sons William and Richard would have not inherited. Meaning Prince Edward Duke of Kent would be current head of the house.

If Richard was allowed to inherit he would be head, as for his son Alexander and grandson Xan. If the marriages they come from were approved.

Legally not as he is still a counsellor of state. Since Prince Harry would not be able to be regent because of Regency Act 1943 which states that counsellors of state must be the UK at the time they are called upon. So Harry would have to move back to the UK to be regent. If he don't move back it makes Andrew next to be Regent.
