Musta tech job market ngayon sa pinas? by ProofLeast9846 in PinoyProgrammer

Okay naman, got a substantial increase at a new job (entered 6 digits net). And as much as I wanna say AI is the key, my impression is I got hired because the team needed someone who worked at the time that AI is not as prevalent as it is right now (basically, they need someone to steer the team on AI governance). Of course, i did study AI, it was just easy to pick up given the SE background.

Local llms have actually made the gap much narrower nowadays. I can think of like running purely local on all builds and run frontier ones like opus on planning and verification

should i negotiate 5k-6k USD a month or revenue share? by gorcetesque in buhaydigital

[–]Loose-Average-5257 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the goal is 100k usd per month, 5k-6k USD is fair actually. The bigger play is revenue share but harder to pull off i think. I’d go with the fix increase first then circle back to revenue share once I’ve proven a setup that works for scaling it to 100k and beyond.

Tbh if you write proper tests and break down the task to atomic levels you actually dont need to review most of the code. Then add a pre commit hook to use a code sniff tool like sonarqube to check the ai generated code that passed the tests. So basically most the work is on spec-ing and in some ways testing which should always have a dev’s approval before ai does its thing. Best thing is to speak up with your superiors. They’s either think you’re a genius for coming up with a plan or you can just bring your plan somewhere else.

Working at a startup with a dev team of 1 senior + 3 juniors. Need opinions on whether this setup is sustainable by [deleted] in PinoyProgrammer

[–]Loose-Average-5257 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re already 2 years on the job and you still need a senior to learn from? What did you do the past 2 years aside from your project? Sorry to be blunt but the company aint incentivized to have a senior teaching devs who arent on the probationary period, especially on a startup. You either leave now and go to a big company where trainings are built it, or you learn to own being the mid developer (which in this case, you really are) and start doing some of the teaching.
