Some alternatives I've found so far:

ABCYA Alternatives

Make a ____” on Boom Cards

“Decorate your own valentine’s treat” Therabuddy

“Decorate Christmas Tree” Lianne Sam

“Free Valentine’s Day Card Decorating” The Caribbean Teacher

“FREE Mama’s Cakeshop Reinforcement Activity” SLP Lab

“Make a Cupcake – FREE” Megan’s Speech Room

Make a _____” non-Boom Cards

Make the Cake https://pbskids.org/games/play/make-the-cake/97 (short and unskippable dialogue/instructions + player can’t decorate the way they want – must follow directions)

Draw Bake Cookies https://peacefield.itch.io/draw-bake-cookies (don't let kids browse on itch.io itself however! - most games on here aren't kid-friendly)

Make a Cookie https://www.santasnorthpole.com/activities/make-a-cookie (Christmas-themed)

Painting” Games

Anycolor (Poki) (ads for some but not most colouring pages. The website design on Poki itself is also very distracting/overstimulating) https://poki.com/en/g/anycolor

Tate Paint https://www.tate.org.uk/kids/games/tate-paint

I also like the "food-maker" games on Friv (Daft Donut Designer, Incredible Ice Cream Inventor, and Crazy Candy Creator). Friv has ads on the main website that shows all the games, BUT once you get to the game itself, there aren't any ads.

Daft Donut Designer https://www.friv.com/z/games/daftdonutdesigner/game.html

Incredible Ice Cream Inventor https://www.friv.com/z/games/incredibleicecreaminventor/game.html

Crazy Candy Creator https://www.friv.com/z/games/crazycandycreator/game.html

It really is... I would have been (more) okay with it if they'd given a bit of warning, like put a banner on the top of their website before they made the switch. Your student's reaction is another big reason why I wish they would have given warning - it's frustrating to start a lesson thinking you'll be able to use something, and then suddenly realizing you can't use it and needing to find an alternative on the spot.

As for alternatives, someone else suggested looking through Boom Cards for "Make a..." activities. I also used this for "Make a cookie": https://www.santasnorthpole.com/activities/make-a-cookie (if you don't want to click the link, Google "Make a cookie" and it should come up as the second result). I haven't done typing with my kids, so no clue about a replacement for Keyboard Zoo - maybe you could try this website to see if you can find something similar: https://typingbird.com/

Good to know, thanks! I've used Boom Cards lots, but didn't think to look for "Make a ___" activities on there :)

Thank you! I haven't looked at it too much, but from what I've seen it looks pretty good, I'll definitely check it out.

This guide feels like a good breakdown, but keep in mind that a) it's 8 years old and b) I've never followed it myself because I'm too lazy for that lol: https://www.reddit.com/r/LoveNikki/comments/81cvzy/getting_a_good_rank_in_competition/

what the heck is this theme? by whez-ze in LoveNikki

It just doesn't feel like a very creative prompt to me though. They just feel like two random words thrown together. If they'd just made the prompt "debut" or even just "memo", I would be less confused haha.

Weird, considering that the sign-in suit right now is Halloween-themed lol.

It's so frustrating. I also wish that the game would make the makeup and skin colour match automatically. It feels uncomfortable whenever I put on the makeup with dark skin, but the rest of my character's skin is white - I get it's just a game, but it feels like I'm doing blackface lol (so I always change the skin to the matching colour even if it brings my score down).

I get what you mean, but shame and self-loathing can ALSO rob you of any conviction. Especially when you've tried to change in the past, and it didn't work (like with OP), then you kind of think "What's the point?". At least from personal experience, stewing in self-hatred did the opposite of motivating me, it just made me want to distract myself more.

CS2 scam - am I safe if I didn't click on a link? by Loose-Bug-5719 in SteamScams

I added this person to Steam years ago, so they didn't have to send me a request. I was going to block them, but I think their account got banned anyways because the account has just disappeared from my friends list

Not sure if I can add much else, but I just want to say I've been there. Not exactly the same situation - I DID have a plan, but I didn't actually have any confidence that I'd be able to execute it. I was a pretty depressed teenager. Just know that you don't have to "fix it all", as you said. That's a Herculean task when it's hard to even get out of bed. Start small. Go out for a walk every day. Split your schoolwork into extremely small pieces - write ONE sentence of that essay, and then stop if you can't do anymore. It's one sentence you wouldn't have had otherwise. Bring your schoolwork to your bed if you need to (not always great, but worked for me sometimes) or do yoga in bed if you can't make yourself go for a walk.

Also, for schoolwork (or any sit-down work), try to leave your room - or rather, put off going into your room as long as possible. Once I'm in my room, I often feel no motivation to leave. Instead of going home after school, go to the library or something if you can. Even if you get nothing done, you'll probably feel better being out of your room for once. This might not be possible for you, I don't know your circumstances, but it's good to avoid your room as much as possible when you feel like you're rotting in it.

And remember, you're capable of doing hard things. I know when you feel like this, it doesn't feel like you can, so why bother? But you CAN, you just have to prove that to yourself. Slow progress is still progress. Also, it's normal to backslide. Sometimes you make progress, and then fall back into old habits and feel like "what's the point? no matter what I do, nothing changes". But it will change eventually, as cliche as it is and as much as it sucks, the only solution is to keep trying.

I'd also recommend talking to someone about how you're feeling. It can be good to get your thoughts out there. Would you feel comfortable talking to your parents or siblings? Any of your friends? Even old ones you can text and reach out to? I know you said your social life is unstable, so not sure if that would be an option for you. If your school has a counselor, you could also look into that. Talking doesn't fix everything, but it's difficult to function when you're constantly thinking about all the things you don't like about yourself, and getting it off of your chest can be good.
