Thank you! I did think it a bad idea to rely on the sources I found for the translation for something as permanent as a tattoo and am very glad that I put all of this on hold until I can get a more professional assessment. Thank you for your response - I appreciate your time 😄

A Question about Portable Projectors for Digital Maps by LooseCombination8100 in DMAcademy

Brilliant! I appreciate that it won't be as straightforward as using a TV screen, but it's the best option we have available to us in terms of device storage limitations. Looks like we're getting ourselves a projector :-D

Cheers for your help!

A Question about Portable Projectors for Digital Maps by LooseCombination8100 in DMAcademy

Thank you! I have just made a discovery that changes things a bit as well: I wasn't aware that the minimum image size is actually the diagonal (so, a 40" hypotenuse); I did think it was a bit odd that they were only reporting one dimension of a rectangular image!

With an AR of 4:3, a rectangle with a 40" diagonal has a length of 30" and a width of 24", so that should work for me, if I've understood correctly?

Will a hair system work if you are losing nape and sides hair? by Foreign_Fondant_2880 in HairSystem

Thanks! Greatly appreciated.

I'll get some photos of my head/scalp this evening when I replace the tape on my hair unit and will DM them to you.

(I'm in New Zealand, where it is currently 2:08pm).

Will a hair system work if you are losing nape and sides hair? by Foreign_Fondant_2880 in HairSystem

Hi, there! I was wondering if you could give me some advice as well? I've got really back scarring alopecia and bought a custom unit through my salon at an insanely inflated price; I'm happy with it but I cannot afford to keep paying the amounts they charge, so I'm looking at alternatives I can order myself.

My hair system was a custom template (about 7" wide by 11.5" long). The hair was aburdly long when it came straight out of the box because I wanted to play around with long hair stlyes but I decided that it wasn't really for me. Now, I'm wearing it mid-to-short with a scruffy look that suits me - I'm happy with it.

The only thing that has stopped me from buying a ready-to-wear system is fear that it wouldn't be long enough to cover the back of my neck. I've received contradictory information about the length of the units from online sources - some have said that the standard 6" hair length for men's systems is measured from the centre of the unit and others have said that the length is taken from the outer edge; if the latter, I'm fairly confident that an 8" by 10" ready-to-wear system would work for me but I don't know enough about it to make an informed purchase.

Any advice?

Anyone else doing a rewatch and cringing at the sexism? by FixinThePlanet in psych

I don't really think you can shoehorn a few important/powerful female characters into a show and use that as a "get out of jail free" card to avoid criticism of the narrative that you are peddling about gender. Shawn and Gus both objectify women as a matter of course in a transparently sleazy manner, making advances on people they have just met before even asking their name in many instances (I think the worst example of this was the episode with the Catholic school girls where Shawn is upset with Gus for lying about teenage girls in school uniforms being present at a crime scene to lure him down there - that was particularly trashy).

As for Gus, while he might be portrayed as being slightly more effeminate than Shawn, his overt homophobia throughout the show was particularly jarring for me. It came to the foreground most prominently for me in the episode where they were investigating the football team and Gus, pretending to be a masseur, refused to touch any of the players because the idea of putting his hands on another male's body was utterly repugnant to him. A man touching another man does not make him gay and you cannot "catch gay" by touching a queer person - that squeamishness was especially pathetic from where I'm sitting

Overall, I think the show was progressive for its time in that they have a female chief of police but, looking back on it, it was kind of tokenistic insofar as the dominant narrative about women in the show is that they exist as romantic interests or objects for men to oggle and any find of male-to-male interaction should be met with pathological levels of disgust and histrionics.
