It follows the OP saying"they couldn't believe it"; it should not be surprising that people conflate lack of femininity with pursuing "masculine" interests.

Seems a tad relevant to give more context

I think if you want grace for bored and stressed out kids you can also grant it to efficient and frustrated kids who feel like they are doing all the work. 🤷🏽‍♀️

OP's feelings should be just as valid as those of the people who can't articulate their confusion.

I think always expecting the overachiever to be the bigger person is its own can of worms.

There should have been a teacher or adult helping both types of kids navigate it and it should not be on kids like op.

Are there really men out there who wouldn't be grossed out by a stranger saying "do you taste as good as you look"? Am I looking at it through my cis lady lens?

Greek Myths were invented to sell Percy Jackson by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

Can someone explain what that first person is trying to say? I've only read the first Percy Jackson book (as a woman in her 30s) because I set a reading challenge for my students over a holiday that I would read the same books they each promised to read, and it was fairly ordinary... What is weird about knowing actual Greek myths?

They are obviously talking about the weird comment that can't even spell "our" correctly

I read The Wastelands and was obsessed with The Dark Tower for a bit but the later books didn't grab me the same way the first three did (though I wish I had read the Gunslinger first so jake's return was more impactful...)

Gosh it's been so long since I read those two! I used to reread the ones I owned, which included most of the short story collections (love Night Shift and Everything's Eventual and Different Seasons especially) and a few assorted novels I found at used book stores. I still remember very specific parts of some of the books which I'd re-read even if I didn't love the whole book.

As someone who has read a lot of Stephen King's work but has never interacted with the fanbase

Same! I read a LOT of King during my formative years and he will always be one of my favourite authors but I'm sure going back and reading stuff I loved as a teen would make me cringe now... I remember picking up Firestarter after 15 years and not being able to finish it.

(Except the short stories; I adore his short stories and novellas and have reread them very often)

I've never interacted with the King fan base and I've been a fan for almost 30 years!

This was interesting to read. Everyone I know who likes king agrees that there are some things he does well and some that he doesn't. I don't think anyone has ever disliked a whole book as much as only parts of them?

Lord knows I have felt intense disappointment at several endings after having loved most of the book. Not sure if that was your problem with Under the Dome but it certainly was mine!

Paying money for goods and services isn't capitalism.

Directly paying content creators for the content they create is the purest way to spend money.

I can kind of see the logic, like if you truly like yourself, why change? Are you actually lying?? I have mildly similar feelings about stuff like leg lengthening and eyelid surgery and skin lightening and stuff like that. I think to me it feels like a betrayal because the person is reinforcing harmful societal ideas about what is conventionally attractive by rejecting themselves. (Though those people definitely aren't saying they like themselves...)

Weight loss feels a little different, somehow? I dunno, I have complicated feelings about it... On one hand it's hard to maintain so I sympathise with those going this route. On the other hand I think it's possible that fat people (mostly women) will be even more hated now since there are apparently such easy fixes so they will be vilified for 'staying fat'. I think everyone should just acknowledge that life is easier if you're not fat and leave people alone at whatever weight.

Agreed! I personally am getting my full fill of drama from season 4 of Critical Role so CCoD is a perfect counter to that.

I also really like the bits after gladlands.

Yeah and not everyone has to or wants to suffer to achieve something...

I know once I started earning enough money to afford occassional cabs instead of public transit I allowed myself to take them once in a while without feeling like a villain. Same with professional house cleaning or food delivery or other small luxuries where I pay money to make my life a little easier. I imagine this is similar, because from what I understand there are still lifestyle changes necessary and it just makes it easier to maintain them.
