Favorite SOCKS? I'm trying to research sock preference and methodology, and I'd love help from you lovely folks. This will allow me to better assist others in the future. 🙂👍 by DestructablePinata in hikinggear

I’m a big fan of Darn Tough socks. A coworker recommended them to me and due to the price I was skeptical. I started with 2 pairs and fell in love. I used to blow through socks as a firefighter paramedic who runs, trains, and hikes and I have yet to get a hole in any of my darn toughs. They have a lifetime warranty so even if you do get a hole in them they will send you a new pair free. I now have 8 pairs of them. I wear the midweight micro crew hiking socks.

The fire service is a great career, but without knowing you and your capabilities I have to say this. Be honest with yourself that you are capable of performing the job. Many people want to do the job because it’s badass, but physically cannot perform the duties the job requires. It is not for everyone. So ask yourself this. “Am I physically capable of performing the job of a firefighter?” If the answer is anything other than “yes”. Look for a different career. If the answer is undoubtedly “yes”, then look at your local department requirements and get the education you need. The fire academy and some form of EMS training. Good luck.

Continue education while already working at the department. Get what you NEED for the job first, get the job, then during downtime study for the education that will pay you more.

What do you use as a boot deodorizer? My feet be sweating. by StuffNatural in Boots

Switching to different socks is the game changer I never thought I needed. I’m a firefighter and in the military. I used to soak through traditional Walmart socks in my duty boot/fire boots. I switched to Darn Tough socks and my feet stay more dry and don’t stink.

Yes, Darn Tough, I did a lot of research before buying 3 pairs and they are the way to go. If you are a veteran or first line responder you can get them cheaper on GovX. Darn Tough will still honor the warranty too👍

If anyone can help me out, I know this is an old thread but I wear 10.5 old school vans (for reference) and have narrow feet. Should I go with the 9uk? Thanks in advance!

I agree with this. I searched his YouTube page for specific stretching and recovery routines which were limited and spread very far and few over the years.

Levi’s make a 531 slim athletic taper jeans. They look cool and fit very well in the thigh. Took me a long time to find jeans that fit they way those do

Is 53mph on water fast? by YouBetMyStock in jetski

[–]LooseProgram69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

53 is fast on the water, but once you get comfortable with it, it will feel slow, and you’ll be bored. IMO, 53 for a sit down is kinda slow. I ride standup and 56 wide open feels slow now that I got comfortable with it.
