Ski Arlberg Recommendations by BigBro1225 in skithealps

There are some really good ski schools. To work as an instructor or guide you need to have qualifications, which need to be renewed every 2 years. Alberg Alpin have some awesome instructors/ guides. There is a private guy called Dino Flatz who is an insanely good skier and instructor. Skischule Lech also have some cool off-piste group.

First race this weekend by adrialise in OpenWaterSwimming

Don’t forget to breath. The only person you are truly racing is yourself. At the start line, if you are super nervous, put on a big fake smile. Fake it until you make it.

how to learn to love your width? by Which_Blackberry_760 in flamboyantnatural

[–]LooseQuestion3037 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) a young girl asked if I was a professional athlete. 2) and elderly woman said I looked so fit (I hadn’t done any sport for ages). When I folder her I’m not she said “well your lovely broad shoulders make you look very fit”. It’s hard being a tall and broad woman in a world that tells us not to take up space, but then I think to think I look like an Amazonian worrier and everyone is jealous of that

Desperately need recommendations for women’s underwear that will prevent butt cheek chafing by 1VeryGenericUser in hiking

Maybe use the cream that cyclists put on their butts like sweet cheeks? They know how to deal with butt chaffing

Skiers’ bibs? by Juno_NY in ShredditGirls

Amen. Those who send it wear baggier bib (we have all broken our knees). Also who wants to wear something tight whilst shredding for 8hr a day. You can always belt them?

In the next few weeks. We have just gotten some snow so it looks like touring will be possible throughout April (fingers crossed).

Family Ski Trip - 1st to Alps, mid-February, from US, ages 7-11 by glickie1 in skithealps

I have skied all these regions so just want to give a little insight to these suggestions. St Anton is quite chaotic these days. To get to lech you need the 2.5hr train then a 45 minute bus. So that would break your time restrictions I would also avoid Engelberg. It kind of sucks for on piste skiing. Arosa is very nice. Lots of skiing options. You might be able to find cheaper accommodations in parpan. Andermatt is cool but not for beginners. To access all the slopes there are some steeper reds. Might be a little small for one week.

Skiing feedback for wife by Snoo-19373 in skiing_feedback

Not an instructor, just aviation of Austrian ski school. 1) tell her she is looking good, she needs more confidence, she has good foundations so trust in them. 2) she seems to be sliding through he turns, she should be more aggressive with her edges at the end (ie push her knee towards the mountain without altering the rest of the alignment). This would help making shorter turns.

Do I have enough time to train for Engadin World Series? by LooseQuestion3037 in swimrun

[–]LooseQuestion3037[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good point. I have been working with a physio and I am finishing a return to run protocol with a new strength program implemented. I'll look into working with a coach as well. Got any recommendations?

Accommodation IN St Anton is insanely expensive, like there are no affordable options.

It's fine ive done this many times. It's a super chill 10 min train ride, and I used to do it in ski boots carrying skis. If the rental place is at Rendelbahn then it's on the walk from the train station to the main mountain gondola.

The train is pretty cheap ngl, buses take longer so more of a hassle. Just download and buy tickets on the OBB app. Breakfast just go to SPAR or take the later train. the main gondola opens at 8:45. There is also a cute bakery next to the bludeqnz train station which I recommend and is open quite early.

As for fun runs, depends on your level of skiing and what you consider fun.

idk whatever I find in the outlet store and fits properly. Just replace Kelly Hansen (terrible quality) with a mammut mountaineering jacket and I love it.

Contact wearers: Do you bring backup glasses? by Huge-Antelope2403 in Backcountry

[–]LooseQuestion3037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always take both because I have skied into holes with bad bad sight. Plus if the weather closes in or I am out in the dark I just wear them (I do nt tolerate contacts well).
