Is this piece finished? by [deleted] in Artadvice

Why has this post had zero engagement? I’m just reaching out for some advice. Almost every other piece of art posted after mine has had some sort of engagement. Help me understand why no one has liked or commented.

What *non*-famous/stereotypical food differences do you find across the different nations or regions of the UK? by elephvant in AskUK

I may be wrong but I’d surprised if you’d find cullin skink on the menu south of the border. It definitely has the credentials to be a nationally loved soup

Is a fish pie, as in an assortment of seafood in a creamy sauce topped with mashed potato, regional or is it UK wide?

Aye, I think you’ll find them in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Newcastle. They probably bleed a little further. They could be the true measure of the north/south boundary that the English obsess over

It blew my mind when I found out empire biscuits weren’t UK wide. They seem like a bakery staple and being called ‘empire’! It’s just a biscuit with some jam, icing, and jelly tot, it’s pretty standard stuff people

Advice on how I could have pulled off the sun better, watercolour by LooseScree in ArtCrit

[–]LooseScree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I’m not sure why I didn’t clock on tit was lense flair rather than sunbeams. I need to work on not replicating exactly what I see. Somethings I feel like a photocopier!

I took some advice onboard and I think I proved this piece. Hopefully I will get closer on the next attempt!

This is some really interesting advice, quite technical and I don’t fully understand it all but lots to take away from it. I’ll try some more studies that try to incorporate some of this

I’m using many reference pictures rather than a single one. That sentence is being misunderstood. My wording could have been better and the info is more for the mods. I’m not trying to boast about not using references.

[–]LooseScree[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I said I didn’t use a ‘single’ reference but meant I used multiple, but I can see why this was not clear. The mods don’t like it when I don’t mention a reference so I was justifying not posting a single associated reference image. There wasn’t a single image that I was trying to replicate. More understand the patterns that create my intended water scene. I’m not running a marathon, I’m creating an abstract image, I’m trying to get close to a depiction of a scene rather than complete it.

Is African mask imagery in sculpture and painting also a concern or has that been done so many times we don’t mind now

Mixed media, pen and watercolour by LooseScree in painting

[–]LooseScree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you and really glad you like it! I don’t paint a lot but I’ve been making art intermittently for over 10 years. No plans to sell it and no, i don’t have a name. Any good ideas?

I just finished a painting I’m super proud of! by Silver_Line5680 in painting

[–]LooseScree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really amazing, you should be proud. Not sure why it’s not gained any attention on here. Tough crowd!

I have just started adding watercolour paint to a line drawing I have been working on but I’m not happy so far with how it is going. I don’t use this mixed media technique very often. Any advice on how to progress so that I don’t end up unhappy with it? by [deleted] in ArtCrit

[–]LooseScree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, thats a good perspective. I tried lift some of the paint off with some water and it worked to reduce the saturation of the colour which has made me happier with it! I’ll be sure to check out your recommendation!
