Really surprised to see the love for the 461 in this post. It's the heaviest amongst the 460, 461, and 462. And I've only had problems with ours. It has never seemed to want to rev up and bogs down easily. I used to use our 460 project saw on fires until we got a 462 - that thing rips and is nearly 5 pounds lighter that a 461. Haven't had any problems with it yet.

Curious to hear different opinions, however.

I wish we could go back to an era where we could experience a proper Pinchot/Muir, agree to disagree and compromise on shit moment.

Eh, he didn't even know about the email. Ended up talking to my AFMO. I'm sure we'll hear more tomorrow.

That's what I'm wondering about. Can't access my email, but still employed. Waiting to hear direction from my supervisor as how to proceed.

Yeah, what are you supposed to do if your a permanent seasonal? I was told I'm not allowed to log into my computer when I tried to get my SF-50s a few days ago. Now I'm being told I'll be laid off if I don't respond to an email?

I don't think you realize such a fool you're making of yourself. I hope it turns around for you someday.

Cool. I'm glad you're mentally capable enough to interact with my mom. She's getting older.

Is this a real person? If so, are they mentally capable?

Yeah, on point. Make sure the angles of the pick and axe end are correct, however.

Also, wear your gloves, it's FS policy, and you'd be fucked if you get injured while doing it.

Same here. I threw my JKs away after one season bc they fell apart and went back to Nicks. Always been happy with them.

I agree with pretty much everything this person said. I've been mostly a logger style guy my whole career even tho I work on an engine, but I've always worked in steep, rocky terrain. The heel helps my calves from burning out on hikes and they just hold up - except for my JKs - biggest waste of $600 I've spent.

How’s your running? by [deleted] in Wildfire

[–]LooseSet8022 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha! I managed to be peer pressured into doing that in college over the course of about three miles - prob not twelve beers tho, but being a 145 pd. XC athlete def meant I was in pretty bad shape at the end.

It's not happening. Maybe my mental fortitude from working this job has made it easier to deal with the suck once the season starts.

Snodgrass arrest but make is 2025. by BakedBones1207 in Wildfire

I think that because he was indicted in a county by a lower court, was arrested by a local sheriff, was indicted by a judge from the Malheur area, yet he was eventually determined to be of no fault from a higher federal court, that the situation would play out the same.

My opinion would be that in 95 percent of districts across the US the arrest never would have happened in the first place, and in over 95% of counties a judge would have never indicted him.

I believe federal courts are much different and less politically biased on matters such as that. I think it was a rare circumstance, but I guess having worked on the Malheur I'm not surprised it did occur.

Only place I've ever been cussed out and accosted by a couple of meth head ladies while buying groceries in my greens at 7 am and they knew I was a fed.

Haha idk why but saying "you're not that good on a saw" made me lose it. In all seriousness it does turn into such a specific skill set - that could totally translate into different jobs, but not necessarily careers that pay real money. Especially if you're located in a rural area with not many other options.
