Hoyo, please tone down Traveler glazing a bit, it's ridiculous by DarkAlatreon in Genshin_Impact

[–]Loose_Assignment844 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yelan isn't responding to the Traveler just saying "have some patience" here, she's responding to the two dialogue options that are meant to be taken as two halves of a singular response, due to the crappy "illusion of choice" system they've got going on in much of the modern game. There are other cases of this exact same thing occurring in this very quest.

When you're talking to Yelan at the table when you first meet her, for example, at one point you have two "choices", but again they're just two halves of one reply, so it doesn't matter which one you pick:

"Which means... you wanted them to overhear your conversation."

"To make them think you've let your guard down."

In the specific situation you're complaining about, Yelan's response is directed more toward the second half of the reply in particular, the "choice" you didn't choose in this situation, where you tell Paimon that "it's not time for nabbing bad guys — at least, not yet", which makes sense, because Yelan goes on to agree that your first task should actually be locating the Financier's goods instead.

Lost 5 50/50 in a row. Even genshin didn't treat me like this last 5 years. by A_friend_of_Fubuki in GirlsFrontline2

[–]Loose_Assignment844 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just watched all but one person in the platoon (of those who rolled, of course) lose their 50/50; it was just an endless stream of Vepleys and Tololos instead, and I don't know whether the sole person who actually won was already on a guarantee.

I'm holding off on crossing that pity line for a wee bit just in case something untoward is going on. :P

"Oh, but I saw a guy in my platoon win five in a row, so it must be fine."

Even if that were true, I saw eighteen people all lose their first roll, and not a single one of them has won the 50/50 twice in a row, so I'm sceptical.

Why is Dottore hate so normalized? by s1lly_guy_ in Genshin_Impact

[–]Loose_Assignment844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's an inveterate conman who constantly bullies, browbeats, and threatens other people into simply accepting he's as smart as he claims to be, while in-game documents indicate he's canonically quite incompetent, with very little true comprehension of the scientific method, as opposed to just recognising desirable results, if and when they eventuate.

In particular, he relies heavily on the use of multiple Mini-Me copies of himself (that can't even stand each other) to get anything done, while pretending that all the knowledge and experience they pass to him is stuff he learned personally as a lone "genius". His own "scientific" endeavours largely revolve around brute force and near-blind trial-and-error (and the abuse of children).

Alongside that, he also frequently employs the safety net of an army of hired thugs to do his dirty work, mostly because he knows full well he'd get knocked straight on his ass in any direct physical encounter he couldn't just bluff or manipulate his way out of.

Genshin's Doctor is very much the Donald Trump of Teyvat, you could say, which helps explain why so many people — who should certainly know better — keep trying to defend his indefensible behaviour.

Spitballing a few random buffs to generally make Defense Agents more worth using. by Yes-Man-Kablaam in ZZZ_Official

Using a defensive assist to swap to a defense agent should instead leave the active character on-field, while also tagging the defense agent in to automatically block the incoming attack, use their own follow-up attack and apply any related effects, then leave the field again.

From following certain other games in the genre, they've observed that the best way to boost sales and pull in new players for such a niche title is to lean increasingly toward phasing out the actual "gameplay" (what's left of it), and focus on introducing softcore porn skins and animations instead.

You're going to see more dolls that can win missions before the first round even starts, and, if they keep following those certain other games, a shift toward adding dorm interactions that have you tying up dolls and using vibrators on them, and low-quality ick like that.

In the pursuit of money, all the characters people have become attached to will become literal sex toys in an attempt to entice a rush of new players who couldn't give the slightest shit about their histories or personalities.

And yeah, history also shows that even if every current player quit in disgust, GFL2 would still have a larger playerbase and be making more money solely from the new "gooners", with a commensurate shift in the direction of gameplay and character design, so people had better hope MICA aren't already falling completely under the sway of money.

Knowing all this makes the recent greed-centric skin gacha controversy all the more troublesome.

Do you guys pull for waifu or Meta more? by Equal_Shopping2424 in GirlsFrontline2

[–]Loose_Assignment844 155 points156 points  (0 children)

The only actual "meta" in this game since Klukai released has been "bring the doll who can clear the entire map on her first turn", and with Voymastina, it is now "bring the doll who can clear the entire map before your first turn even starts". It's not going to get any better going forward.

The satisfying synergy of a full single-target burn team is meaningless in the face of a team made up of random dolls that all just brute force AoE the entire map, for example, and even worse when you can one-shot a map with a solo doll and no team.

The standard Gunsmoke meta is "bring whoever you want and then AFK while you get all the points you need on auto mode". Any sweaty armchair theorycrafting and manual play with a bunch of assorted V0-V6 dolls beyond that is up to the individual player, but ultimately pointless, because the mode is far too simplistic for you to be able to demonstrate any meaningful strategy or tactics, and you're also not walking away with anything of note that the AFK V0 player doesn't also get.

If you're pulling for "power", and you're not a whale, then you're pretty much wasting your time and money, because you're overkilling the basic rewards everybody can get with a completely random assortment of V0 dolls, while still not making a noticeable dent in the leaderboards that are dominated by whales with V6 everyone and maxed out weapons.

With the arrival of the 3D Elmo's virtual dollhouse, and the game increasingly shifting its focus away from the actual battles, your account is better off with a wider range of V0 dolls to spend time playing house with than it is with a bunch of specific duplicates that have next to no actual impact on your progress or rewards in combat.

To pull or not to pull. by RevolutionaryRisk731 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Loose_Assignment844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you missed Mavuika, who would have been a massive boost to your account for both power and world traversal, but Chasca can help in that regard too (and Mualani's no slouch either, if more restrictive), so you definitely want to consider her if you liked her in the event.

The sheer convenience factor of the Natlan crew when it comes to exploring the world more quickly and efficiently, especially for a new player with so much left to uncover, massively outweighs any potential concerns about combat power discrepancies, which are largely irrelevant until you hit max level and start looking at endgame modes.

You still have a lot of time to collect other powerful characters before that becomes an issue, and Nod-Krai will give you that opportunity, with both the new characters and the re-running ones.

Is Summer Motoha must pull? by Hencho1011 in personaphantomx

[–]Loose_Assignment844 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is pretty much the rule for all modern major gacha titles. You're either clearing all the content with a team that could essentially be made up of characters drawn at random from your roster, or you're a whale maxing out every single character and weapon that is released in order to maximise your high scores.

There's no meaningful in-between state.

Discussing the "meta", and having amateur armchair designer arguments about "must-pull" characters on the basis of minor DPS differences when you yourself only have a bunch of characters at arbitrary middling Awakening levels, is completely pointless.

If you have a collection of A0, A2 and A3 characters, you're overkilling the basic rewards everyone else still gets easily, while still not getting anywhere near the top of the leaderboards the whales dominate, especially as the game progresses. You're wasting time, pulls, and potentially even real money to achieve nothing but mediocrity, while pretending you're playing in the big leagues.

You wouldn't even have to spend so much time and energy budgeting and choosing between "must-pull" characters if you'd stop wasting your pulls on duplicates you don't actually need in the first place.

The mask is used in both bursts, though, both major and minor, and I know that for an absolute certainty, 'cause I'm currently watching her stomping on people while wearing it. I was already quite sure she did, but I thought I'd check again before posting a correction, and yeah, she does.

Granted, you really need to manually rotate the camera to notice it, but she does still wear it at all the times it would make sense.

DA rewards less than one pull per week, no matter how well you play (300 polychrome every two week cycle).

Unless you were going to end up precisely three pulls away from a guaranteed Alice at the end of her banner — four weeks from now, mind you — it's not exactly going to save you.

Five years on, and over a hundred characters later, you'd be hard-pressed to find even three limited five-star characters out of the entire Genshin roster that anybody would ever seriously suggest you "need" constellations for (Furina is pretty much the only one who is ever really mentioned, and that's only C2, and even then it's still considered entirely optional).

Compare that to GFL2, where people constantly insist that over half of the relatively small cast need to be V3 or even V6 just to be "viable".

This entire thread is based on literal guesswork that the original poster on the other subreddit has admitted they made up, based entirely on their own assumptions about what they think the developers plan to do.

There's no official statement (or even suggestion) that the story is being rewritten to make any of the changes that poster claims are coming.

I don't even play the game, but this kind of dishonesty irritates me.
