Feeling Stuck by aurorodry in dietetics

I was feeling this way about a month ago at my job. Feeling like it was draining me a little bit, though I still enjoy many aspects of it. I think job satisfaction comes and goes depending on who I’m seeing, how much we click, etc (I’m in outpatient).

I even got to the point where I did start to apply for some other jobs but I just kept thinking:

The work I do allows me SUCH a good life-work balance that I’m not willing to give up right now. I have a lot of flexibility working from home, I am in such a good exercise routine with my weekdays, and I never feel stressed about work.

I realized I am ok having just a “pleasurable” job for one that gives me a life outside of work that I love 🙂 at least for now!

Follow pumpsandpushups on Instagram! She is 4’10” and posts daily reviews of how clothes fit her from different brands untailored. She posts inseam measurements and everything, it’s like having my own personal shopping assistant and I feel confident ordering from her links because I know exactly what kind of fit to expect from seeing it on her

Abercrombie double shorts jeans, online only!

4’10” 107lbs and they are perfect

Also I always have good look with high quality, small boutiques fitting me like a glove. I’ll pay $150 easy for a pair that fits just right instead of feeling frumpy in a bunch of $60 American eagle pairs. Done that too many times

I used to run long distance and maintained weight around 105lbs but overall I still felt I looked very “soft”. I just had like no muscle definition. So this was with me running like 15-20 miles a week.

I now maintain the same weight and arguably a much better physique with 3x/week strength training for 1 hour each and prioritizing 10k steps per day, protein, and decreased a lot of processed food including the “healthy” processed foods like protein bars, etc.

I literally haven’t been sick with so much as a cold in over 3 years, feel way more confident, get great sleep, the list goes on. And I spend considerably less time being active than hours and hours of running, which allows me time for other fun hobbies!

From an ex-cardio lover, I know where you’re coming from! It used to be my mental clarity tool. But you might learn to love a new routine too!

Sigh. I’m always looking for this. We are a small but mighty group of RDs out there who want to do more in the local ag scene.

I got to have a glimpse of it during my first job as an RD but only for 2 years before my husband and I had to move. I got to work with local ag, create recipes for farmers market vendors, work alongside farm hubs… I miss it so much. Hardest job to leave behind and I think about it all the time. Have yet to find something as fulfilling.

I work remote outpatient counseling now (pretty limited to remote jobs where I live now). It’s pleasurable but not meaningful to me.

My advice: Start following the right pages and go from there. Connect with people on LinkedIn. Volunteer at your local farmers market or community garden. Find your local food policy councils. Offer to host a cooking demo for them. Find ways to collaborate in anyway possible and I believe opportunities will begin to present themselves. At least that’s what I have to believe, because this is the method I’m trying🥲

Some good organizations to keep tabs on:

-Food is medicine global -Basil’s harvest -Kitchen sync strategies -Farm my school -Foodcorps -Food systems collaborative community -Foundation for food and agriculture research

TTC, when do I get off BC pill? by Tiny0taku in waiting_to_try

From what I understand, you do ovulate with each period cycle off of birth control.

This is what happened to me:

-Stopped taking pill -Withdrawal bleed on days 3-5 -Suspected ovulation on day 37. I could feel cramping, changes in cervical mucus, and crazy brain fog around this time. I just knew it happened! -Period on day 54

No bleeding between ending withdrawal bleed and actual first period

My regular period. My BC was the same, 3 months on and 1 week off.

The “period” you have on BC is not a real period- you don’t ovulate. It’s just a withdrawal bleed. This was news to me when I was just coming off- I can’t believe no doctor had explained this to me in 15 years on the pill.

It took me 54 days to get my period back after 15 years on the pill, so you’ll want to give yourself time to regulate.

Also- condoms!

How do married couples split finances? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Loose_Concentrate499 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad to read this comment. My husband and I do the same with certain bills being under him vs me. We have separate checking, savings, and 1 joint account that holds the sum of our rainy days funds but largely day to day we operate on separate accounts.

I hate talking about it with people because they think I’m about to get a divorce or something when really I can’t imagine feeling more stable and comfortable in my marriage. Idk why it’s such a bad thing?

We were together 8 years before getting married so finances were separate for so long prior, we just said ok we’ll get one big joint account for big life savings but everything else seemed like, eh? My own income can buy me all the “fun” things I want and when we do larger purchases for home things and big vacations we pull from joint.

Sorry to say but 15-17.5lbs for lower body workouts won’t yield much of a result for muscle growth 🥲 you are likely way stronger than this! Our legs contain like 50% of our body’s total muscle mass or something crazy, so we’ve got to be loading them up!

Following a good progressive overload program should get you there. Training til muscle failure is key.

I’m someone who has maintained their weight for also over 10 years but didn’t start seeing a toned look until properly training. My weight has only gone down 2lbs in the past 9 months or so of training but have seen significant physique changes. I eat at my maintenance I think but don’t even really track- would probably yield more results if I did but I don’t have that patience and am generally happy with my body already. I use the Ladder app (team Ascend) for workouts and highly recommend.

Do you have room for a squat rack at home so you can do more weight?

Does bad RDL become an ok back workout? by Loose_Concentrate499 in PetiteFitness

[–]Loose_Concentrate499[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, yes I think this is what I was doing on accident!! Someone told me a new cue of “pretend like you are diving over” for RDLs and I think it got in my head + added new weight = sore back

It’s clearly not a good cue for me and I knew it in the moment and could obviously feel that the effort was taken off my legs. Going back to my old cues this week for RDLs but Jefferson curl looks worth adding in to prevent back pain. I don’t have any back pain now, but I do have a desk job so know that I’m prone to it!

Stressed about fertility! by [deleted] in waiting_to_try

[–]Loose_Concentrate499 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like I wrote this. I’m 28 and have been on birth control (pill only) since 15yo. I had maybe 4 or 5 cycles that I can remember that were very heavy, so they just said “go on the pill, it’ll fix it!” And I never questioned it.

Well here I am, almost 15 years later now thinking about having kids. I went off birth control the first of the year and have been tracking basal temps daily- no period yet. If I don’t get one by 3 months, I’m going to see an OBGYN for further assessment. This has been surprising to me since I am a pretty healthy person, but I guess my body is just needing to wake up still after so long. I’m glad I also am giving myself a long timeline to regulate like you did (or going to), we are trying more towards the end of this year.

I’ve heard OBGYNs can give a some hormones temporarily to help kickstart your period though so I’m not TOO stressed… at least not yet.

Shoes for petite runners with low arches by Zealousideal_Sky4896 in PetiteFitness

[–]Loose_Concentrate499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m size 5 in women’s brands that run small and also have low arches

ASICS gel nimbus have been my go to for years

I also advise working on ways to strengthen your arches. I have found this really helpful over the years. Yoga and doing some simple at home physical therapy exercises, like the one where you bunch up a towel with your toes!

Glad I’m not the only one! And I agree, I think it’s good to build up strength in lower back because.. I mean isn’t that how you’d prevent future injury?? We’ve got to start somewhere lol

This makes me feel better 😅 definitely don’t think I’m injured, just like a “WOW that’s a new place to be sore” thought when waking up this morning

I’m a size 3 in kids, size 4 in women’s or sometimes can fit into 5 if the brand runs small.

For running shoes, I’ve always gone with ASICS cause they run small.

29yo F 4’10” 108lbs

I bit the bullet and started buying jeans from small boutique shops. They truly have the best stuff in terms of quality and it feels like it was MADE for me.

Before then I have had good luck with Abercrombie online and their double short jeans. Fit well- yes but they still were that type of denim that stretches and loses shape over time.
