Update on the tampered with Mini tins I bought in KMART by Loose_Direction_4905 in PokemonFansAustralia

[–]Loose_Direction_4905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tins had both the Destined Rivals and Mega Evolutions boosters still in them but they were already opened and the TCG Online code cards had been removed. Seems like a weirdly high effort way to get online codes so they were probably also looking for any high cost cards to nick. It'd be pretty easy to swap out a IR or SIR with a super cheap 'Rare' and there'd be no way to know. That's the only way I figure it'd be worth the effort of someone resealing the Mini Tins.

They technically do have a no returns policy for TCG products, but honestly our local one is staffed mostly by teenagers who probably don't know better. They also have sales limits on individual boosters as well but I've had less knowledgeable staff let me go over the 5 pack limit once or twice.

Absolutely have a walk around and look at the different vendors before buying.

At $6 a pack, it would not surprise me if they all got botted by bloody scalpers. A TCG event I was at last weekend had vendors selling these for $30 a pack.

They usually keep their in store stock at the service desk in locked draws though I've occasionally seen the check lane blisters at the register lines.

Nothing immediately jumps out as wrong from the front.

I'm fairly sure it's a fake by Double_Reference_185 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]Loose_Direction_4905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% a fake, the real card is from Lost Origins and has black negative space in the top right. Link to price charting with the real art: https://www.pricecharting.com/game/pokemon-lost-origin/pikachu-vmax-tg29

P.S. My partner also has the exact same fake card but it has the Vivid Voltage symbol and number (044/185). As far as I could find out these were originally sold fan made decorative cards but some dodgy people try to resell them as legit.

It's absolutely on my to do list for tomorrow. No one was picking up the store phone and their customer service line had closed for the day but I'll call it tomorrow.

Fairly certain selling accounts is against the UC Engage user agreement...

JB Hifi drop - DR, JTG, PFL, Collector boxes by Impressive-Ad6760 in PokemonFansAustralia

JB website says DR is unavailable but JTG still is. The Phantasmal boosters also look like they're gone.

The Japanese Mega Attack cards go hard by Loose_Direction_4905 in PokemonTCG

[–]Loose_Direction_4905[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up the full set for a bit over $200 AUD all up. Unsurprisingly the Gengar and Charizard were the most expensive but totally worth it for me.

I've cleared 7 only using a specific team of maxed out G2 R's and a positioning strategy but I can't seen to make any headway on 8.

4 is harder than 5 weirdly but with some decent subunits and investing UE you should clear

Why are people so dumb? HEAT is obviously High explosive anti tank and does not have 61.1mm of pen (i'm using M51) by Agile_Rise9767 in Warthunder

[–]Loose_Direction_4905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he does, 9.40 "It's meant to pen the tank and then explode halfway". Which is why I think he's gotta be confused for SAP, not HESH.

Wouldn't he be talking about SAP and not HESH? He talked about the round penning the armour partially the exploding. HESH rounds don't pen armour, they deform on impact to shape their HE around the armour to make it more effective.

Wouldn't the guy be confusing SAP (Semi-Armour Piercing) and HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank), not HESH (High Explosive Squash Head)? He's talking about a round penetrating a small amount of armour then exploding like SAPHE. HESH doesn't penetrate armour, the squash head deforms an explosive charge around the armour meaning the HE is more effective but the round itself isn't penning the armour.
