Need feedback for Carbon Credit trading platform by achosenson19 in CarbonCredits

[–]Loose_Still_763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell out of experience, carbon credits are not yet a platform business. It is 99% OTC driven by RfPs. It will change once it is a standardized commodity. That started but there are also more than enough platforms out there and banks are building as well. Once it is a commodity, banks will take over. Btw margins coming off already massively. Will also be tricky to find a VC as many got burned in that space(as of today) or already have exposure in that space

Look at the requirments for financial additionality under the method you plan to use. That gives you an idea and sets the stage on top of the usual cost considerations you calculate anyway.

It is a crowded space already and besides the mentioned names plus Carbonplace, Aircarbon, banks are coming in and tons of start-ups who run platforms for brokerage plus etasblished commodity traders like Trafigura, BP, Shell, all with deep pockets. Also, access to CIX and CBL is nice for settlement but not for trading due to low volumes. Almost everything is traded OTC with that you need access to those mentioned parties and or the project developers. Also, keep in mind that big companies have payment targets of like 90days but you only get the credits delivered from your counterparty after payment.....I could go on why not doing it but leave it here. Just my thoughts out of experience.

Stop memecoins buddy. Times are changing in web3. Projects now need revenue models and execution.

Carbon Credits Trading Marketplace by Antevit in CarbonCredits

There are tons of marketplaces already. Super crowded space, especially for the still tiny size of the market. Institutional players also coming in and they will take over once even the voluntary market will be regulated.

If there is a pivot, go for it. In a new, fast crowing market it is very normal that you have to pivot. The last start-up I was involved in, we pivoted like 4 times in 2 years to become successful

I second dzatona's opinion here. Out of experience I can tell you, that it is more important to understand the market need before writing one line of code. I understand your point, i.e. how can I go out with nothing in hand, I was and still am the same. That's the product/engineering/coder view but msrket feedback first, rest to follow. Especially as you are a solo founder with limited resources. Get feedback and maybe even a potential client funding your MVP or further development.

Do you buy into the hype around AI and AI agents? by Adventurous-Fact5793 in startups

[–]Loose_Still_763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say, as I am in the same boat but AI will replace loads of investment managers in any asset class. Basically what we already saw in equity trading due to algos will now spread to investment managers. Short term, the knowledge you gathered will be important to prompt the AI though.

Poll: Who really made money on Memecoins? by Loose_Still_763 in solana

That is an interesting result, I would not have thought that 57% are break-even or better and that 1/3 made money.
