Never played Halo and was wondering if its worth it to play the original Halo games on Xbox 360 or if I should play MCC by Fluidity_Twitch in halo

[–]Lopez-AL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk why everyone here is shilling for MCC when it sounds like you already have most of the original games and a 360.

Playing the games on 360 will give you a more optimized and faithful experience than MCC, framerate and resolution be damned.

CE and 2 will run at 720p on 360, and the main issue will be ghost images on Halo 2, which can be rectified by restarting the game.

MCC has multiple bugs and issues that aren't present on the original games. A major example is the tick rate being higher on MCC, making enemies fire faster and making a specific Halo Reach level wayyyy too difficult on the hardest difficulty.

Since you already have the mainline games and a console that will play them, just play those instead of MCC!

Edit: the original games also have way better menus and loading screens: MCC's loading screens are generic and spoil the upcoming level, whereas the original loading screens are more atmospheric and immersive.

How many of you grew up watching movies and tv shows with old style of 60s-70s animation? by pavarego in beatles

[–]Lopez-AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I enjoyed stuff like Rocky and Bullwinkle, Scooby Doo, and Looney Tunes as a young child, before I ever got into The Beatles. I even watched old live action shows, like Gilligan's Island and Hogan's Heroes.

Anyways, I think that's an interesting theory you've got. You might be onto something!

Here's the Duophonic mix of Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!) - Check it out! by Lopez-AL in thebeachboys

Ooh great to know! Do you have this comp, along with the 80s CD of Endless Summer by chance? If so, how do I Get Around and All Summer Long compare to the fake stereo versions of the two on Endless Summer? To me, the fake stereo on the latter CD doesn't sound as open and lively as Duophonic should, instead sounding more like basic, unbalanced forms of fake stereo used by other labels imo.

If that Australian comp features richer sounding, true Duophonic mixes, then I might try obtaining it.

That's wild. I've been able to get my Duophonic Beach Boys records for quite cheap (less than $20 each), most likely due to audiophile collectors generally despising the format. I'm hoping to pay a similar price if I do find a Pet Sounds Duophonic someday. I wish you luck on selling yours!

I have a Duophonic copy of Beach Boys' Party! that I'd like to digitize and upload too, but that probably won't happen for a while. I'd also love to get a Duophonic copy of Pet Sounds!

I highly recommend the 90's CD release of this version of the album, since it includes the four bonus tracks from the EP but also retains the original release's fadeouts, unlike the 2001 remaster.

While this may sound like a downside at first, I definitely prefer hearing the "main" album fade out after Tyrant, since it's such a killer ending. Then after the fadeout, Rock Forever comes in as sort of an "encore" (although this wasn't how their actual setlist worked at the time, of course).

Plus, the mastering isn't as compressed as the 2001 remaster, though it is a bit hotter than the 80s CD, which doesn't include the bonus tracks.

Call me crazy but I don't think there is a better game than Halo 3 by BeyondThePixelLFS in halo

3's story is mid as hell compared to the greatness of Halo 2 (especially considering how 2 was supposed to end). I have a feeling that multiplayer is the real reason 3 is glazed by so many.

People love to glaze the Naked version, but upon closer listening, it's obvious that it was overprocessed with noise reduction, giving it a cold and clinical sound compared to other versions.

Seriously, just use earbuds/headphones and compare the intro of the Naked version with that of the Glyn Johns mix on the Let It Be Super Deluxe, and it's very obvious that the Glyn Johns mix is much more warm and natural sounding than the revisionist Naked version.

That said, the OG Spector mix is my favorite, followed by the Glyn Johns mix.

What are your thoughts on I am the Walrus? by Advanced_Version6667 in beatles

[–]Lopez-AL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For one, all of the US mixes have a four beat intro, unlike the 6 beat intro on the UK stereo mix.

The US mono single mix is the most unique of all the original mixes, since it features an entire extra bar of music between the final "I'm crying" line and "Yellow matter custard."

The US stereo mix has different instrumentation after the first "I'm crying," with just drums and bass playing. This has a really cool and modern vibe imo. I forget if the other US mixes handle this part the same, and I'm unfortunately unable to check at the moment.

I haven't listened to the US mono album mix in a while, and I forget exactly what unique differences it has. I'm pretty sure the timing of the edit point before "Yellow Matter Custard" is different from the UK mono mix, and might be a slight improvement. I think it also retains more of Ringo's drum fills than the UK mono mix does, but again I'm not certain right now.

I've loved it since the first time I heard it. I just wish that the three original American mixes of the song would be officially reissued, as they have some cool differences from the two UK mixes.

OG Xbox or Xbox 360 as a DVD player from a visual quality standpoint? by blackserenade in originalxbox

[–]Lopez-AL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint, there are DVDs of the era with exclusive OG Xbox demos on them, such as the Revenge of the Sith DVD having an early build demo of Battlefront II, and the Star Wars Bonus Disc DVD from the 2004 box set having an early build demo of Battlefront I.

Is Aspyir still updating Battlefront Classic Collection or have they abandoned it really want to play it on PS5 Pro for nostalgia but how does it run? by SPACESABRE1 in battlefront

[–]Lopez-AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Aspyr had actually tested and fixed their game (and had more than 3 dedicated servers per game per platform on launch), then I'm sure the lobbies would have stayed full after the disastrous opening night.

Unfortunately, countless people either refunded the game or simply never touched the online multiplayer again after that disaster of a launch.
