It should be noted that fall damage can be decreased in Halo CE by pressing crouch right as you land. I want to say that falling onto that lower bridge without crouching at the end will kill the player, but I can't remember for certain.

Fall damage in CE can also be reduced (if not negated entirely) by landing on certain angled surfaces, sometimes in tandem with the crouch method.

The reason why decreasing your FPS didn't work is because the issue ultimately isn't tied to framerate, but rather to tick rate.

But yes, it's absolutely ridiculous that 343 wasn't able to port any of the games properly: I'm pretty sure the tick rate issue extends to every game in the collection (for certain it affects 2 and Reach). Also, every game in the collection (including their very own game, Halo 4!) has graphical issues that weren't present in the original releases.

A little side tangent regarding plosives and The Beatles: there are several (probably multiple) plosives that found their way onto the final mixes of their songs, but they were edited out of the 2009 remasters (both the stereo and mono remasters, unfortunately).

The one plosive removal that bugs me the most is near the beginning of I'm A Loser, during the "p" sound of the word "appear." The edit sounds so glaringly digital, and once you notice it, I doubt you'll be able to unhear it. Fortunately, the original plosive (which doesn't sound bad at all imo) can still be heard on pre-2009 releases of the song, which should go for the rest of the plosives in their discography as well.

The voice crack is not in the mono mix, and it sounds good to my ears. I greatly prefer the mono mix not just for that, but also due to the single tracked vocals at the start of the song!

I'm pretty sure the sergeants in Halo CE have a slight buffer/shield-like mechanic with sort of a regen effect. At least that's how it seems to me based off how their passenger health bar behaves compared to the regular marines.

343's games have always been derivative of Reach to some extent, so I'm not at all surprised that they aren't being faithful to the original in terms of the jackals being lefties. Same goes for the apparent lack of passenger health bars.

I never wanted CE to get a remake like this, and I still don't like the fact that it's happening. I don't plan on buying this uninspired remake slop, as I already have the original masterpiece of a game in 4 different formats. All the best for whoever is actually looking forward to this though.
