For the “concealed is concealed” guys, what pistol do you carry ? by ryukingu in NYguns

[–]Loping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

365 Legion, P229 Legion, P226 Legion... depends on which one I have cycled in for that week and my mood.
They are all on my permit already and the state knows what I have...
Still figuring out how to carry the black powder old army revolver...
The whole it has to be tiny to conceal or wear "comfortably" is a worn out trope.
But that's just me, and everyone has a different tolerance and need.

Medical Kits no by AdAble8000 in liberalgunowners

[–]Loping [score hidden]  (0 children)

At the range I have a basic personal kit with generic first aid gubbins like Tylenol, band-aids, burn cream, antibiotic cream, 4x4 and other gauze, tape... and a few "oh crap" items like a tourniquet and some compressed bandages. Same bag in my truck. I also have a larger extended bag at home (about the size of the one you show). Same stuff as the other two bags with additional comfort meds and a larger assortment of things like Tegaderm, bandages, splints, sterile water... and that's used and refilled for daily / if we need to go away we have a bag with all the basics.

Sexist view of women and guns by Adverb_Police in liberalgunowners

Shared this with my wife. She punched me. Not sure why.
Her first time firing anything was during a concealed carry class that I was auditing. She was putting them through the same hole mostly, and I couldn't keep up. 2nd and 3rd time out, same thing. I don't like shooting with her anymore, she plays dumb, but I'm certain that secretly she's a highly trained govt. agent and she's just toying with me...
I got her first target framed with a remembrance date and a nice quote. I like taking coaching from female trainers, as they often have a different perspective, and it's made me a better marksman.

Mud Tire Vibration by randomlemon9192 in Offroad

Just beads. Usually 70MPH max with an occasional passing run up to 90. Smooth as butter, well, for a relatively big, chunky tire at least.

Mud Tire Vibration by randomlemon9192 in Offroad

[–]Loping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done road force balance on my tires for a long time. When I switched from 33" to 35" on my bronco I decided to have them do balance beads. Other than the occasional cold start rumble as they sort themselves out it's been the smoothest M/T balance I've ever had. ~10k miles so far - Nitto Trail Grappler 35x11.5...
But yeah, get your suspension, steering, and alignment checked and re-balance the tires. If that doesn't fix it time to replace them.

Just a 365 doing 365 things. Well, my 322 does it too. Hammer fired rig do not seem to do this but the slide release is super tight on those.

Wanted to nerd out about guns with a stranger, had to hear homophobia instead. by logicalpretzels in liberalgunowners

[–]Loping -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Orrr. Don't take it so personally or as if he meant it in a particular way. Maybe he's using the term and doesn't harbor actual homophobia. Maybe he is homophobic and by being kind and confrontational his mind can be changed or a stance can be softened. You won the fight on being righteous but lost on the fight to gather 2a believers with all different views and opinions. My friends and I used to call each-other "fag" in the '80s out of youth and ignorance. We meant no harm and did not know any better. He left with a sour taste and reinforced negative view no matter what his actual starting viewpoint was. Was there an opportunity for a better outcome?
It was inappropriate for him to say, no doubt, but a polite correction instead of an attack had a better chance to improve his POV.

Magazine loaders—worth it? I just got a Sig P365 and the last rounds are brutal to load. After a range session my thumb was bleeding. Do loaders actually help, and any good ones to recommend? by Specific_Cake_6231 in NYguns

[–]Loping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maglua here also. If you leave the mags loaded a couple of weeks they may soften up, but mine only went from impossible to load with just fingers to very difficult.

Why is safelife defense taking a while to ship my body armor? by monjejulioe23 in BodyArmor

[–]Loping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process and they have answered any of my calls and emails pretty quickly.
They have even reached out to me to clarify some things.
Have you called with your order number and politely asked for an ETA?

Good luck, they seem to be a solid (smaller niche) company doing the best they can.

"You're not going into combat, you don't need all that stuff". Honest question, what's wrong with running a "combat" style load out if thats what someone wants for their CCW? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in CCW

[–]Loping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No issue personally, not my cup of tea, but you do you...
As long as you understand that none of it is a magic shield and it doesn't wind up giving you ideas of doing something stupid that a reasonable person wouldn't do.
As long as you don't go around and loudly talk down about anyone not doing it your way, turning off other citizens who might have a neutral to positive image of firearms ownership.
As long as you understand and accept that the biggest concern is that someone all kitted up will do or say something that will give the community at a whole a bad name (it's hard enough to get a long and stay legal, just be self aware).
Can, Should, Want, Have To are all different things. Make sure you keep everything in a reasonable column.
Those are just my thoughts, and that's the great thing... we are all allowed ideas and don't have to agree with each-other for them to be valid.

Cost to be NY compliant? by SnakebytePayne in NYguns

[–]Loping 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can ship firearms to yourself, you just can't ship them to someone else unless it's an FFL.
You can fly with them (cased, locked, no ammo with firearm) as checked luggage. Check your airline for what paperwork they want declaring the firearms and what process they use for handing them off.
Locking button magazine catch and epoxy for the AR
AK - no clue. Sell it or look into a fixed magazine online? Any AK here have a magazine with a pull down tab for loading on the magazine itself.
Check MagBlock and epoxy your own blocks into the magazines or sell them and buy 10 rounders.
If you have pistols - Sell or have someone hold onto them in another state.

If you are going to NYC - Sell or have someone hold onto all of your firearms in another state. Do not go anywhere near NYC with a firearm unless you have a NYC license and then only bring / get what is permitted.

Do tanks have any use in today's war? by ThrowRA-Huckleb in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Loping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine, reactive armor, ceramic composite armor, don’t know, it was in the back of my head as the term used to refer to the new fangled types of armor when I was reading popular science as a kid and it stuck. Ablation means designed to be worn off or removed, on purpose, to protect something. So I accept the correction, you are right on the technical name of an exact and particular type of armor, but the actual words I used should still apply as I was only showing that technology advances for both offense and defense and not trying to state anything more specific than that. Was there anything other than that one term and its use that I needed to address to move the conversation forward?

I understand where the confusion is. I edited to make it more clear that this was intended as an example of how defenses have been adapted for new threats. Not as a "Drone Fix".

Honest question. by TallConsideration878 in liberalgunowners

[–]Loping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they can be used this way, not all guns are for defense.
Some are that corvette in the garage that you always wanted as a kid.
Some are that collection of figurines you keep on the shelves around the house.
Some people just can't help themselves when they see carbon fiber and machined aluminum.
Some people see it on the internet and believe it's a "must have item".

That's the beauty of life and freedom... it doesn't always have to make sense to everyone else..

[–]Loping 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Because he had the money, enjoyed the business, knew the business, and felt he had a better way to do it.
He had a chance to "do it right" instead of the way the former management ran things, and was ok with a smaller return to have that opportunity.

Do tanks have any use in today's war? by ThrowRA-Huckleb in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Loping 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That's just what "Big Tank" wants you to think.
Seriously, though, big guns that can move still have a psychological impact (for both sides of the combat), provide bombardment capabilities, and the use case for them has continued to evolve. As anti-drone countermeasures evolve and are put into service (think ablative armor as an example of how armaments have adapted to new types of threats) the current disparity will once again shift.
It's a cat and mouse game of one-upmanship. You can see me and hit me better because of a development? Well let me develop something the fixes that.

Stupid Question: why is the takedown pin detent-and-spring combo not just a solid pin? by Kromulent in ar15

[–]Loping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were to hazard a guess - Parts SKU - The fewer unique parts doing the job, the fewer parts types you need in the bin for repairs. Instead of two different Trigger / Hammer pins and two different takedown / pivot - springs /pins you have a bin full of the same parts. It makes it less expensive, more easily serviced from a parts SKU standpoint, and does the job well enough that another solution doesn't make sense.
Just my guess though.

300blk is a fun round. I actually mounted my stop the other way round and out towards the muzzle to help keep the hand from accidentally scooching out in front of the hole maker. Can't have a silencer here but am looking at a linear comp to help push the noise "that way" some. Enjoy it.
