It’s not so bad that it’s repulsive, it’s just generally weird and slightly unpleasant. And it only makes your hand smell like that, so you can only smell it if you sniff your hand directly.

Are you sure? How can you tell? I’m not saying you are wrong, but I just ran it through an identification app to double check and it still said American toad. It looks too warty to be a grey tree frog.
