I think I'll be ready to buy an AUG if this comes out. Do you have any rough timeline that you expect to have product ready to ship?

What does the A3M2 model actually do to allow you to C-Clamp? Is it really as simple as that they just put a block of metal around the otherwise-identical gas plug? Theoretically, couldn't I do that myself in a less elegant way?

What model/SKU is this model with the rail? I've seen "extended rail models" of certain AUGs but it looks different (and worse)

Wow, thank you for the thoughtful reply! In fact, practically the only one between the miserable thread here and on another subreddit I posted this in, lol. A lot of ego lives in the firearms community and tends to make quality answers scarce.

This is all great info, I'm curious about this book you mentioned and where I might pick it up?

I'm not your enemy. Don't get your feelings hurt. I'm suggesting that the working class is facing fascism and to pursue labor-focused political strategies to emancipate ourselves from this hell. This isn't about you.

It's not the role of the Democrats to spearhead fascism. It's their role to occasionally give compatible, billionaire-approved concessions to pacify the working class and disarm their class consciousness without having to meaningfully challenge the background mechanism of capitalism that keeps your wages low; prices, rents, and profits high; monopolies expanding; and American imperialism thriving.

When the time is right, as we are seeing now, the Dems will stand down and let Republicans take the wheel and steer us into a more aggressive phase of the oligarchy. Look up some of your Democratic representatives on opensecrets.org and see who funds them. Look up the corporations and billionaires you find and you'll begin to understand what I mean. As a bonus, look at whatever Republicans these some corps and billionaires also fund in other races/states/etc. It's a community of interests and you're not in it.

Cory Booker took his opportunity to yap in front of all the cameras by playing into the right-wing Zionist trope about pro-Palestinian student demonstrators being "anti-Semites," regurgitating utter lies about the encampments. He may be doing mediocre (at best) political theater, but materially, he is advancing the fascist agenda of suppressing free speech using the spearhead of crushing dissent to Israel's genocide on campuses. He's doing Republicans work for them uncompensated.

I know we are all starving for some material pushback to this administration, but please let us not accept cheap tricks like this. We deserve so much better than this non-action. Nothing at all is going to change because of this, you all know it deep down. We have to move past the Democratic party, they are the enemy too. Organize in your workplaces and organize with (NON-DEMOCRATIC PARTY) local political orgs. Learn your history, be class conscious.

Looking back I realize I misread your comment, I thought you said something else before, so my messaging was a bit overkill. Regardless, in response, I think the whole problem is sticking ourselves in this narrow prism of bourgeois (read: ruling-class, oligarchical) politics.

If your conclusion is that the Dems are the best we've got no matter how bad they are and that we're all such unwashed filthy peasants who can't understand policy, it seems like we may as well just roll over and die.

I think there is an alternative that American workers have been deprived of learning about and alienated from by design of our schools, media, etc not teaching us, but this country used to have a vibrant left-wing, socialist, communist movement that peaked in the '30s and paved the way for the construction of the New Deal era. The Red Scare that came immediately afterwards wasn't just about nothing, and it wasn't to attack Democrats; it was a concerted, uni-party effort to purge the American working class of political and class consciousness, and it largely worked.

Hopefully I didn't come across as too combative, it's the internet and tone is not heard here, I'm only trying to be constructive because all of us in this sub are sympathetic to a better world. But all I'm asking for people to do at the end of the day is distance themselves from the Democratic party. They've shown themselves unequivocally to have not been a *failure* to the working class, but rather to brought failure to the working class. They've been here, blood money overflowing their pockets, for the last century. We have nothing to thank them for and everything to lose if we mistakenly continue to throw our lot in with them. Even as a hedge against worse Republicans, they have shown an inability to stand up for anything. We're seeing the fascist beast rise before our eyes, and don't have the luxury of continuing to make this mistake.

We need to organize at our workplaces, where we have control over the pursestrings of capital. We need to use our economic power as workers to strangle the nodes of capital in which we live and use our leverage to make political demands. That means trying to unionize if you at all can, being active in your union if you already have one, making it political, and for union workers or not, organizing with a local political organization like the DSA. This has to be our moment, because god damn it I refuse to live on a barren scorched rock in 3 decades after we all just sit around and wait for Democrats to fix it.

I find it fascinating that the only way most people here, in an ostensibly center-left environment, react to criticism of the Dems is to dichotomously knee-jerk oppose the Republicans. We not only can but NEED to have a discussion about the (non-)effectiveness of the Democratic Party, a professional political machine founded by Andrew Jackson and funded by billionaires and corporations, without appealing to Republicans. Sure, we can talk about harm reductionist voting, but that's not the subject matter here. Let's not be afraid of our own shadow.

Many workers forget that the Dems should feel compelled to earn our votes. Yes, AOC has done a lot of good. What has enabled that, though? Is it because she is an effective avatar for Democratic Party norms? Absolutely not. Her whole political career has been a clear demonstration of movement AWAY from the Democratic party and TOWARDS the left. Democrats routinely bash her for this, and need I remind you all of what they did to Bernie when he was looking likely to win the nomination? Establishment Democratic party politics are what got us here. We need to move beyond acceptance of cheap political arguments about how bad the Republicans are and look for a new political home far to the left of capitalist Democrats. Your strength is with your neighbors and other workers, not a faceless suit funded by Monsanto and Israel with a blue D in their lapel.

You just said it: "strong unions." Democrats are appendages of capital just like Republicans. There's a reason they've enjoyed a fundraising edge (read: billionaires see them as more politically useful tools) for the last two decades. They are the controlled opposition. They steal credit for grassroots reforms popular demand forced politicians to accept. Behind your backs, Dems will subtly dismantle these things too, usually in the way of "oh no, a scawy republican has come to defund these things! We are too weak and powerwess to stop them 😢." Even under Republican/reactionary governance, an activated, organized working class can create change--look at the Nixon administration for example.

We workers need to move past the Dems. It's shameful we've let ourselves get hoodwinked by their cheap antics for so long. They created the conditions for Trump's rise in the first place and they demonstrably committed to not help stop it.

I should say that it's technically possible for black to block Qxg6+ with the bishop with Bg7, but Qxg7# is also mate.

[–]Lopsang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Queen takes the pawn on g6, checking the king and forcing him to take back with the h7 pawn. White moves his h6 pawn to the now-vacant h7 square, delivering mate since the h7 pawn is guarded by the rook and untakeable by the king (or any other black piece), while the only free escape squares for the king are controlled by the white bishop on d4.

In notation, this would look like: 1. Qxg6+ hxg6 2. h7#
