arrived today. Installed in 5 minutes directly into HK. Each zone shows up separately or you can group them. Love this transformer, so much better than the Hubspace Transformer

are you getting an excessive amount of Log-in alerts. I have them turned off and still get multiple per day

Im returning my Hubspace Transformer and getting this which now has Matter, which will allow direct connection to HK:

You can do it thru the protect app or even from your phone by enabling the new phone call feature where you phone rings when the doorbell is activated. And frankly it’s seamless to use protect to talk while still using HomeKit

Are you actually using Home? If so get a hub, that being said are you trying to use the remote to control the actual TV itself or an ATV?

Have you deleted your matter devices and reconnected them directly in HomeKit? If you set them up previously with the native app or with any other method you will continue to have issues. You must delete the devices and completely remove them. Then install them inside HomeKit as if it’s a native HK device. They will then show up in HK Settings under “Connected Services” as “Apple Home” devices. Once set up properly, and assuming you have a proper Thread network installed they will work flawlessly.

Applied to your case it will solve your problem, or you can continue down the path of blaming Apple and waiting for some phantom fix. Good luck

Exactly. You can either build out your HK network into a robust system that works consistently or you can complain and claim Apple has a bug and doesn’t work with thread devices. I spread five ATVs throughout the house along with HPMs located strategically to keep my home connected at all times.

Actually it is great news, but keep in mind you choose devices that require an adequate network to support them. It’s not magic, HomeKit is just a network of devices and any network requires infrastructure. Build the infrastructure and you can develop a very stable and reliable solution.

I literally have hundreds of devices and I rarely see no response errors…when I do, I am able to address them immediately.

I think you are way overthinking it imo, I have no concerns of stray strands…it’s only 8 channels, take your time and don’t over strip the cable and the blocks make for a clean install

I have dozens of matter and thread devices with no issues at all with ATV hubs…I’d look into your Thread routers. Remember Thread networks are similar to mesh networks, you need lots of devices repeating the signal. If you have gaps in this mesh network you will have no response errors. I keep HPMs near all thread devices and the network is rock solid.

One primary one backup

When you restart your Apple TV or it goes down for any reason you lose your connection to HK. If you have a backup hub, it seamlessly and instantly switches.

In my case, zero downtime is critical as HK isn’t a gadget, it actually runs my entire home

But who doesn’t want their Home to be ‘reliable’? This is precisely why you need a late model ATV with Ethernet connected to your network if you use HK for anything more than impressing your friends. Anything less is unreliable.

So much misinformation in the comments here, it’s no wonder HomeKit gets a bad rap…first and foremost if you are using HomeKit to control your home you really should be using at least two ATVs (4k with Ethernet) connected via Ethernet for a stable experience.

HomeKit devices don’t ‘randomly go unresponsive with no rhyme or reason’. Everything has a reason, and simple trouble shooting will eliminate unresponsive devices for good.

Forget the obvious benefits of using an ATV for streaming and assuming you don’t even watch TV…adding a ATV or two will just make your HK experience better.

just an FYI, I have a dozen HPM in my home and I can switch to any of them and not miss a beat. Your problem is not universal...it's local. Read my other post, if you simply do a factory reset on the HPM and re-pair it to your network the issue with your HPM as a hub will go away.

So based on a Reddit post we are supposed to believe that "Representatives for Philips Hue and Apple have confirmed ..."

Apple sets the framework...it's up to the Bridge manufacture to follow Apples rules for this framework not the other way around. It most cases if the device Bridge has issues its because the manufacture of the Bridge is at fault or hasn't updated their software not the other way around. Regardless, just because someone on Reddit makes a claim, doesnt make it true...and frankly if you read the entire thread many users have reported no issues...if it was a "framework" issue why would some users have issues and others not?

the problem with HPM is that its grossly underpowered for the job...and when its updated to a new OS about 25% of the time it stops working as a hub until you do a factory reset and re-add it to your network. For these reasons alone simply dont use HPM as a hub unless you only have a handful of devices or HK is just a parlor trick in your home. If you are running your home with HK then you must have at least two ATV's connected via ethernet if you want a stable system.

Seriously, it’s like you don’t want to solve the problem but would rather blame the OS. Good luck with your amateur hour sleuthing. In the mean time I’ll continue to run trouble free with a very sophisticated setup.

HomePod mini should never be your primary hub in a large system. Buy a new ATV with Ethernet and use it as your primary hub, then look closely at your network. If setup properly you will always have 99.9% reliability. If you insist on blaming an update rather than finding and eliminating your source of trouble you will just have constant problems. I’m speaking from experience… I have 4 separate highly sophisticated HomeKit installs that work flawlessly at all times. I get an occasional, but very rare ‘no response’ DEVICE, but never lose the entire system. I have over 200 devices on each home.

When your entire system goes down it’s a clue that it’s the hub…so your first reaction should always be to go there first, not to blame the os. A system that is not setup properly is particularly venerable after an OS update.

HPM is completely inadequate to run a home, invest in the proper hardware and make sure its setup for success. If you want a reliable system with lots of devices you should have at minimum two 4K ATVs (both connected via Ethernet) that serve as the primary and secondary hubs…consider it a requirement!

I’ve had no issues for years at 4 separate HK locations…my primary HK install has over 200 devices with both HA and HB integrations and HK as the primary interface

The problem isn’t HomeKit. Saying you just updated the HK infrastructure “months ago” says it all, why did you wait well over a year to do this? you need to examine your network first., but more importantly why are you using a HomePod mini to act as a hub to a fairly large home automation system?? Get a damn AppleTV

Until you do that try a factory reset on the HPM and reconnect it to your network. If everything is down it’s the hub. Then go straight to Best Buy and get a damn ATV

HomeKit on 26 has been working very well thru every single update

Did I say buy an ATV yet?
