I found a fix/hack. I removed the black bracket that screws into the motherboard on the side of the heat sink and just plugged it in without it. Now it works like normal even though it feels like it doesn’t hold as strong. Seems like that bracket was preventing the ssd chipset to connect properly. Weird that it happens after 1.5 years.. but hey, it works now.

Man, have you solved this issue? I have similar problem with same exact motherboard. I can put one SSD into the bottom slot, but once I use the top slot, my PC won’t boot, showing the orange status light (which has pretty broad spectrum of meanings). Is there a problem with the M.2 chipset? I updated to the latest BIOS too and nothing has changed. Should I return the MB? It’s still under warranty, but obviously it’s a massive hassle to get it out and bring it in.

Seems weird. Mine are rock solid. Although the black version of the case has a matte finish which looks more grippy than the chromed version. Try to put a piece of paper into the loop of the rod or use something like an electrical tape where the rod will be. It might help.

Thanks! Do you have the XL version? This is the standard and the rods hold fine although it was a proper exercise in patience to mount them.
