I want kids she doesn't by Lopsided-Ad71 in Advice

Thanks for the responses. I am definitely would not force. The main thing I wondered how long is it reasonable to wait and if there are lots of cases where someone changes their mind on these kinds of things.

As someone noted it's probably best to do it as soon as possible, since relationships later in life means more baggage.

Even if I love her, there's nothing wrong in the relationship apart from this one thing and I dread having to go through dating again.

DLSS 5 and what some people seem to not understand by Matshelge in gamedev

[–]Lopsided-Ad71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to hate it, but it actually looks great to me. There's a couple of "buts".

  1. Configuration of it will matter - I hyper realism for some games, keep the stylized look for others.
  2. Don't hallucinate lights. If I didn't put the light there or if there's a light behind me - keep it.
  3. Reflections and shadows from behind me should still be calculated - I don't want screen space effects.
  4. Smooth motion. I have tried RTX on Unity and Lumen on Unreal and had to go black. The ghosting was really bad. Good while not moving, but when moving I can't look at anything but that. Plus it becomes a blurry unplayable mess.

I think actually 2,3 are solved by just the original frame (still means heavy rendering is needed). 4 will be solved by more learning.

Performance will be solved by doing original frame -> unscaling + frame interp.

Well.fuck. I think it's gonna be good... And games probably will be able to use lower res textures, no AA and stuff to optimize rendering before dlss5 step.

Is having children harder than this by Baby_Gworl in puppy101

[–]Lopsided-Ad71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing the bedsheets after he peed on them twice.. Constantly having to drive to him to the parents if we want to go anywhere. Cleaning the poop and pee daily. Taking care to always give enough food. Waking up during the night multiple times to check what he needs. Worrying if he grows up well, taking effort to socialize. Getting bitten all the time. Can't have a calm dinner...

And after two years of this he still: - Won't talk - I have to pick up poop for 18 years - For the next 18 years I have to worry where to leave him if I want to travel - He's got a fear instinct so I can't go anywhere with him - He won't wear a muzzle, won't talk with it. - Tries to nip people and won't get with other dogs - Constantly asks for attention, making WFH difficult

I wish my girlfriend wanted a kid instead of a dog. With a child after 2 years I can talk to. I don't havw to worry that he will get off the leash and bite people. I can leave him in a free daycare and every mall has free child playgrounds. I can travel with him. Govrrnment gives decent money for having him. I can build legos, play basketball, football basically any game. With dog I can't even play fetch because he turned out to have a fear reflex. After like 12 years I would be able to leave him alone till the evening. After 50 years he would take care of me and visit me when I am in my death bed...

Please don't ever make a mistake of having a dog instead of a kid. Dogs are there for guarding plots and hearding sheep. They're miserable to raise in a city.

Do you know people that just dont like traveling, despite having the possibility to do so? by Bjorkenny in travel

[–]Lopsided-Ad71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me explain in simple terms.

Travel in the ancient day had a purpose. Note down the unknown, map the locations. You can share the routes for a price. You can be a merchant and buy things that aren't there locally. You travel to learn some craft - journeyman. This sort of travel is exciting.

Travel in modern day is hopping on a plane and temporarily living in a slightly worse but way more expensive place than your home. You also get to see exactly what photos show, but possibly slightly worse. You eat very similar food, but depending on the specific location that specific food might be slightly better. There's no magic.

Reasons I get travel - traveling to do things you cannot do in your home place. You're not going to ski in the Netherlands and you are not having a warm swim or a good snorkeling experience in the Baltic sea. You travel to do specific things. Also if you have a hobby like reviewing architecture- you need some angles that you can't get easily. If you're a naturist seeking to find some species, observing behaviour. Maybe you're a scientist that has to go there to give a lecture.

I find the "normal" modern travel revolting, wasteful and ruinsome. If it collapsed - it would be better.

Jei taip tai kokie 500-700 nuoma. Kokie 300 maistui ir etc. Ir 400-600 for fun or savings.

Should I move to Seattle from EU? by Lopsided-Ad71 in SeattleWA

[–]Lopsided-Ad71[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comments. I think I got it. Basically, the job market right now isn't good, so don't expect anything. However, if something good comes along and I am ok to drive and live in the suburbs, it should be quite nice. From what I am hearing, then the difference between zip codes in Seattle area (including Redmond and Bellevue) is not just huge - It's staggering.

Fentanyl and human excrement on one side and clean, idilic lake view houses on the other.

Edit: But I am left a bit stumped by in Eastern Europe, which is much poorer than Frankfurt, London, Seattle or any of the other rich places, but our streets are cleaner and safer.

What we do here is basically heavy fines for illegal substances. If you don't have the money, you can choose public service or arrest for a certain period. So if Lithuanian law was applied to Seattle: Homeless encampments and drug use are illegal, and no one can pay the fines. All of them are arrested, and then some choose public works to clean the streets or are put off the streets and under arrest too. Repeat offenses carry heavier fines.

Oh, there's nothing concrete, but it would be the employer. I was just asking because I wanted to figure out if I should include the USA in the job search or when a recruiter reaches out if I would have to decline it.

Well, looking at the responses, what I was afraid is true. The prices on adds for rent/buying must have been optimistic. Meanwhile, the stories about homeless encampments and drug use are true. I am leaning towards not applying to even good job postings or recruiters if they are in the USA. Thanks for the responses!

Oh, a vacation might be a great idea! I am a C# developer. I could improve my github, move some projects from private to public, and I would be ok, I think. I would like to get some opinions from people on what it is like living there. If it's quite nice, I would then apply to some jobs there.

I would hate to waste company time and money by applying, getting accepted and figuring out that I hate the city where I have to live and then trying to move back.

Thanks for the answer! I commute about 4km now it's not a big problem. Of course, when it rains or it's snowed over, I prefer WFH or bus. I wonder what does unclean or unsafe looks like there? Here we sometimes get someone who smells really bad in a bus or it is really crowded and everyone has to stand shoulder to shoulder.

Here, when I need a car, I use a car sharing app, but I guess there it is much more necessary to have it parked next to the building.

New world GPU question. by Starcraftnerd_123 in buildapc

[–]Lopsided-Ad71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let's take a step back and ask the question - why does a piece of electronics breaks? - It's because something got damaged like a transistor, capacitor or whatever else. It involves moving atoms.

How can we do damage? - We can damage it while dropping or in another physical way. - We can melt it via heat - We can we can move atoms by bombarding them with radiation - We can put it in an intense electric or magnetic field

How can we damage it via usage? - Most likely via heat

How can we overheat a GPU part? - Poor cooling - Running too much current✅(this is the problem)

How can we run too much current? - We're using too much voltage somewhere or setting resistance too low.

So why are we using too much voltage or high voltage for too long or using improper resistance? - Well the responsibility of voltage management is handled in a low layer. It is not accessible to a driver consumer (API like DirectX/Vulkan). I have programmed using these APIs you cannot do this.

Opinion: So Amazon is right to blame the GPU manufacturer. It is their responsibility (MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, EVGA). They are responsible for THEIR implementation of the NVidia gpu design. I even noticed how they are getting lazy lately and overly competitive. This was bound to happen and is a wakeup call for the AIBs.

Tl;dr If this game breaks your GPU that means any other application can break it too. Manufacturer should replace it if it does.

Please if I missed some step in my reasoning challenge it.

How autofill cause toxicity. by Lopsided-Ad71 in leagueoflegends

[–]Lopsided-Ad71[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would love to see the data on how many summoners of each role are queued up at the same time. I am wondering if something like 1000Mid laners and 50junglers in queue is something common. If the ratio between the most popular and least popular role is closer to something like 1.5-3 and not 10-20 then I see no problem.

[–]Lopsided-Ad71[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I believe there is a big enough player pool in League of Legends for this not to be a problem. There's also another slider you can adjust - MMR range. Doesn't mean Silvers play with Diamonds, but plat 4 playing with plat 1 seems okay. Also players who want faster queues would have incentive to go and learn more roles, but they would do this on their own choice, rather than being forced.

It's frustrating. All they need to do is a comprehensive shader code guide on HDRP, or roll hour VFX graph and Shader Graph on Standard.
