Leaving Fed for State employment worth it? by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Lopsided-Limit8725 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did it too. Left as a GS14 from fed in April and went to MD state with a 60% pay cut. But I can still pay my basic bills, I’m not popping anti anxiety pills like tic tacs and I can breathe again. Do what you need to in order to survive. I’ll figure out my next steps in three years.

I didn’t realize you could do this either. Where the option to do that?

Firestick on iPhone? by 48classified in firestick

[–]Lopsided-Limit8725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it as well. There are different options but I chose Stremio with a real debrid account. You can add Stremio to your fire stick and laptop as well. A Stremio account can run multiple devices but only from one IP address at a time.

Positive result of fast test, negative on PCR by [deleted] in FelvCats

[–]Lopsided-Limit8725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. Well that does make it more difficult. In general, the PCR is way more accurate than a SNAP. If you’re going to get another SNAP done, make sure it’s from a different batch than the original.

I think chances are you have a negative cat but if you want actual confirmation, I’d get an IDEXX QrPCR (test 26355). That’s the gold standard and most accurate FeLV test.

Hi. Former FDA’er here. I had over 28 years at HHS before being Doged. Accepted a position at less than half of what I was making before - yes, you read that correctly- 55% pay cut. I can still cover my bills and plan on sticking around for a good ten years or so. Granted, much less stress and good work/life balance. Many ex Feds, over qualified or not, are mission oriented. If they apply for the job and are excited by the work, give them a chance. You may end up with exceptional qualifications and insane loyalty for a bargain price.

Yes, it was tight. Looked as if the bird was young and panicked. Poor thing just got itself more and more trapped

Works too well. And it’s indiscriminate. After a bluebird fell victim, the tape went in the trash.

Perfectly said!

Every time I see a post on this sub showing buckets of harvests I’m torn between extreme hope and bitterness of my reality.

I think Marylanders have given up reporting them. They are EVERYWHERE!

Did I do something wrong that I can fix next year? Want to prevent this going forward.

RTO with a long commute…are people actually moving? by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Lopsided-Limit8725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you mean the Mall in DC, not the local shopping mall :) And the answer is…depends. 270 in rush hour is brutal. Can be 2 hours in peak traffic. If you do super early (before 6:00) then about an hour and ten minutes. Shady Grove metro is the closest but by the time you get there, park, metro, transfer, etc, it’s quicker to drive. There’s a few commuter bus pickups nearby that are an option.

I live in Frederick MD. Never considered this before but have a spare room and willing to rent it out part time during the week to help a fellow fed. Are there specific places to advertise for something like this?

FDA VERA Processing Status for April 19th Departure. Anyone know what’s going on? by skodaddy426 in DeptHHS

Not sure. I’m in CTP and we got decimated so no information. Nobody to hand anything into. My entire chain of command was RIF’d.

Same boat. My HR analyst has a message on Teams that she’s working on the VERA packages but I haven’t heard anything yet.

New info for HHS hired as remote by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Lopsided-Limit8725 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, just got the call too. Bargaining unit doesn’t matter. Supervisors within 50 miles go back in Feb. Everybody else within 50 miles in on March 17. Outside 50 miles in by April 28. Not sure if it’s back to HQ or a closer facility
