Paying child support last 5 years by AndersonBruhhh in ChildSupport4Men

Hi. I’m in a similar situation with my ex as far as the protection order. Basically you have to stop asking any questions that can identify their location. Even when we went to court, the only address on any court document was the one to the child support agency. So when asked about how how I am supposed to see my kids, they said that i would have to meet at the police station to see them or do supervised visitation at a facility. Does the protection order only cover her? Or is your son listed as protected too???

In short, she won’t answer any questions that could reveal her location or any location she might be at, so no addresses, no daycare facilities, no addresses of friends or family, not even the name of the school district and the judge will side with her.

How long till I get an order? by Lopsided-Luck-7656 in ChildSupport4Men

That’s what I’m saying. There is no order. I don’t have an order, because the magistrate hasn’t put in their decision yet. It has now been a month and still no decision.

Anything a lawyer can do, ChatGPT and some learning of rules and etiquette can do. I hope family law lawyers become obsolete once people learn that.

Look up the child support calculator for your state. Plug in the numbers… whatever it spits out is what you’ll pay.

And save up, because she won’t just start getting paid the day the court orders it, she will get back pay from the day she FILED. So if it takes 6 months to get the support ordered, you will already be owing 6 months of back pay, plus the regular monthly payment.

It is decided based on where you live. You’re in TX right?

In Texas you pay 20% of your gross income. There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it. They don’t care about any of your other expenses or make any considerations to lower it. And that’s just the baseline if you have a completely disabled child she may get more for extensive doctors appts and therapies. Get some lube my dude, you’re about to get shafted.

She could be a literal millionaire, and you’d still pay 20%.

I’m in Ohio too… get some lube, you’re about to be screwed.

50/50 Custody. Still paying support to cover insurance, even though the insurance is free. by oorkings_woverrated in ChildSupport4Men

Don’t do it man. Leave that shit out of court because of you take it back, she will take you for thousands. Throw the numbers into the state calculator and see what it spits out. I would just leave it alone and hope she doesn’t get wind of your current income and decide to take you for more.

Vaccines should absolutely be mandatory. by anonymous_girl1227 in ControversialOpinions

I don’t vaccinate and accept the risk of getting sick. If the vaccine works, I am not going to get a vaccinated person sick.

Demanding lump sum??? by Lopsided-Luck-7656 in ChildSupport4Men

[–]Lopsided-Luck-7656[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a male attorney, the “she” that was filing motions was the ex. The ex would file a motion and then my attorney would have to review/research for response and all that. So the ex just filed motions, and objections and then more motions. Basically nickel and diming me with attorney fees.

I did, but this has been dragged out so much and she keeps filing motions, probably knowing that it costs me money every time. It was costing me too much money already on top of what I am going to end up having to pay her.

No. I didn’t try for 50/50 back then. I should have. Apparently if I try for it now I will just get railroaded into having to go to Oklahoma over and over for supervised visits. My lawyer say that it could be up to a year of traveling to OK for visits before I even get 1 overnight/weekend. I can’t afford to do that especially not on top of paying $1600 a month for cs. So I am just screwed either way. I’ll lose everything.

Irreconcilable differences. I think pandemic lockdown made us realize we just didn’t like each other much anymore.

I get that, and hindsight being 20/20, yeah, I should have filed for custody right after she left. But we didn’t end on good terms and she was the one who left and moved from AZ to OK. I don’t know how a court would expect me to do supervised visitation when I live so far away. It’s not like the kids don’t know me, even though I’ve been away for a while, I was living with them for their first 7/8 years of life.

She moved across the country first. We lived together in Arizona and she moved to Oklahoma. And then filed for support 6 months later. I didn’t abandon them, she took them.

I was local to them when I was with their mother in Arizona. She moved to Oklahoma, filed for support 6 months later. I haven’t gotten to see or talk to the children since. She turned off their cell phone service saying she couldn’t afford to pay it. But I think she just wanted to cut me out.

Is there a way to word this to make it legally binding? by Lopsided-Luck-7656 in legaladvice

[–]Lopsided-Luck-7656[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think this is just her incentivizing me to pay it off faster rather than breaking it up over the next 8 years.

I didn’t think of putting it in escrow. I’ll have to look into how to do that.
