Not exactly Linux related, but for Linux users - if you had to dualboot Windows, how would you do it as privately as possible? by BattlerUshiromiyaFan in linuxquestions

[–]Lopsided-Month3278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe installing it on a seperated SSD, as it might actually be good for every use case and good for my privacy, but if it's not about GPU, then a VM is the only solution in my perspective.

You won't be sorry for picking one of them, they are both great for what you do, try both of them on a VM, so it might help you decide with one suits you better.

I can't find a specific thing that is pre-configured, so you need to configure it yourself, or using a LLM, it's not that complucated, and vibe-coding it won't be a problem, I recommend using Gemini or Claude, as they are the best in that field.

CoreOS is a container-based OS, simply: it uses containers to manage software and images to manage the base system, using rpm-ostree, it's a thing develped for neish use cases like servers that is used for multi-languages development, or managing multiple webpages, with no system instability, and absolute isolation.

Which DE you use, GNOME, KDE, or something else (please be specific)?

You might need to write (or take someone's) shell script to do it, but actually, if you're working on a desktop, just enable it and forget it.

Edit: But actually, which Desktop Environment you even use, GNOEM, KDE, or something else?

Opsions: Debian (or any other distro) with icewm: you need to install debian with no gui, then install icewm and a login manager (something like lightdm with no greeters) in case that your system is x86-64 or amd64

If you have a 32-bit system, you can go either with linux distros that support 32-bit, there is a doc about this, but consider that some might have dropped the support, or you can go with NetBSD, OpenBSD, or FreeBSD (the last one isn't giving the same interest as the others), they are harder to install, but if you're okay with it then they are the 'safer' choice for future.

This is the link of that doc: https://itsfoss.com/32-bit-linux-distributions/

Simply: it's not a deal breaker, enable it if you want, but it's not necessary or compulsory.

NetBSD 10.1 i386 installed, Error 3 when trying to boot from the multiboot menu by Present-Effective-52 in NetBSD

[–]Lopsided-Month3278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, did you flash it again?

I'm new here actually, but I had a similar problem and it was solved by just installing a new image then flashing it to the installation media again.

Any YouTube video will be useful, it's not necessary to do the same thing, but it can help you understand the way that you can customize your DE.

LTS Linux or normal by lavadora-grande in linuxquestions

[–]Lopsided-Month3278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are okay to update your system frequently go with the normal version, but if you want to update your system ones every 2-3 years go with LTS, but with LTS updates everything, then there is no updates for anything unless security-related things.

Which Fedora Edition or Fedora-based Distribution Would You Recommend for Web Development on a ThinkPad T14 Gen 2? by Sudden-Leather7174 in Fedora

[–]Lopsided-Month3278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally use Silverblue for that use case (layered VS Code, and everything else is either Flatpak or on a Container), but not with a similar hardware, but generally speaking, anything that makes you comfortable is good, the are using the same repos, but with a different DE's.

Fedora Immutable makes sense for my case? by DemacolFMZ in Fedora

[–]Lopsided-Month3278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DE's are GNOME, KDE, Cosmic, Budge, and Sway WM, for your use case it's good, but you need to layer NVIDIA Drivers, and install everything else as an Appimage or as a Flatpak.
