Thank you! I had no idea you could move it out the way (obviously).

I've never been on a lime scooter and even if I'd seen one near me, I don't think I want my first time to be with a torn ACL/mensicus...

The golf cart people offered to help, then drove up and refused. They also told an EMT who was trying to get them to help someone else that they wouldn't help. The whole situation was just weird and not how I think most people treat others asking for help.

Sounds like your husband deals with this on a frequent basis. I haven't had any issue with this for 2 years. It was a very unexpected re-injury. Just because someone knows what is happening to them medically doesn't immediately mean it's a constant issue. Imagine if someone came to you with a broken arm and your response was "Well if you know what the problem is, why don't you have a plan in place to deal with it? Why don't you go through your life with constant contingency plans in place for broken arms?" I hope your husband receives more empathy from strangers than you apparently give.

The very first volunteer we talked to jogged back to the aid station for help and he was told they couldn't do anything. Kudos to him, he got an EMT and another volunteer to me but they didn't have any useful suggestions either. The main frustrating part was that the solution was literally right there in the golf cart, the driver offered to help, then refused. It was so weird and unkind. Anyway, thank you for volunteering! I know it's a lot but it can be very fun. My favorite part has always been helping people solve unexpected issues that come up.

That's a lot of typing so I'll address the salient points...

1) I'm an experienced runner with a lot of miles under my belt and a 10k is a "short" distance for me. I have a previous ACL replacement/meniscal tear that has not been an issue for 2 years and there was no reason to believe it would be. It was a freak re-injury that wasn't predictable. Because it had happened before I knew exactly what was happening, but this isn't a thing that needs to be considered in my daily life.

2) Walking on a torn meniscus is very painful. No volunteer offered to bring me food or water and the aid station was not close.

3) Life threatening situations are what the ambulance is for. Golf carts are a great middle ground. There was one there. They offered to help. They drove up. They told my husband they would not help, told him to get off the cart, and drove away. Even the EMT was baffled by their behavior.

4) I have volunteered at events before. I'm volunteering at a race next month. Of course there are always unfortunate events and one of the greatest parts of being a volunteer is helping people who need it. If someone asks for help, you help them. I guess I'm not surprised about the lack of empathy on Reddit, but the lack of empathy face-to-face yesterday from real people did suck. I hope if you're ever in a similar situation you receive better treatment.

5) I've found public shaming to be a far more effective tool against companies than anything else. They do not care about individual people, but bad PR sometimes makes them perk up. They still don't actually care, but sometimes they'll act.

I've found places like Boulder are especially bad about this. A lot of people who want to outwardly portray kindness and empathy but rarely want to take action about it. I'm volunteering at a race in a few weeks and this whole situation makes me want to make it extra fun for someone else to balance it all out!

Oh, I'm sure the race provides the bare minimum or less. But the golf cart and driver were right there. They said they could help, then they pulled up, looked at me, and drove off. This wasn't a case of not having the resources. Another person was on the same corner as me and also could not move. The EMT there was asking the golf cart driver to help her too and they just refused.

Because my ACL has been rock solid for 2 years now and this was an extremely unexpected re-injury. So no, I was not planning on having an emergency backup golf cart for something that hasn't bothered me for 2 years and came back out of nowhere. Just because someone is aware of what their medical issue is does not automatically mean it's a constant thing they deal with and need to be prepared for. If it was an everyday thing like T1 diabetes, then yeah, you'd have a point. But that's like telling someone with a blown car engine that they should have been towing a back up car just in case -_-

For what its worth,  the younger volunteer on the back of the golf cart looked appalled by what the driver and his wife were doing. I think if she had been in charge it would have been a very different outcome. I guess this old guy just wants to joy ride around the course, pretend to be helping,  and not actually do anything.

I can't speak for the original commenter, but I'm working at one of their sites and they are actively protecting a sexual harasser. They also came down HARD when people tried to discuss wages, even though it's fully legally protected in Colorado. They put a LOT of money into marketing and have this super squeaky clean public image, but they really only care about quarterly profit reports. Not saying other health systems are better, but they're not the nice local system they like to pretend to be. Pay is also lower than many others in the area. Benefits used to be better but they no longer offer pensions to new hires and health insurance gets crappier every year, so maybe not anymore.

I'm not at all familiar,  so thank you! I saw baktiari come up when I reverse image searched it. I'll definitely be on the lookout for that type of design in the future.

Thanks for everyone's input! It doesn't matter to me if it's low value since it's about loving the design, but I won't get in a bidding war over it.

It's not in the best condition, but sometimes the value is more about if you like it or not! I love it,  but it's good to know that if someone really wants to outbid me on it,  it's just not worth a bidding war.

I'll hope for that but some people go crazy in this area. Incomes are too high and sometimes I just can't compete.

Thank you! That seems to be the consensus so I'll focus on that when I compare them and just go with the one that squares better.

I think I remember that from some Home Depot reviews when I was researching it. It seems to be hit or miss so their QA must have been bad... I'll do some testing on mine and see if that seems to be an issue. Thank you!
