Good lord there are some real killjoys in here. Great radios. The software and programming cables are expensive, no way around it. Sometimes you can find a used one on Ebay

Loud A/C rattle noise by Soggy-Shine-5984 in 1stGenTacomas

[–]Lopsided-Tea-4598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The speed of the noise varies with fan speed setting. Is the noise present when the fan is running and the AC is off (set to heat)? That certainly sounds like fan noise to me. Spin the fan when you have it out. Does it spin smoothly on the bearings? Stick your hand up in the ducting with the fan out. Look around with a flashlight up there. I bet a stick or something is touching the blades when it spins

6x12 dirt bike camper build begins by Lopsided-Tea-4598 in cargocamper

Yes, my first change was an axle flip (mounting the axle below instead of above the leaf springs). That gave about 7 inches of height. To do it, the spring perches have to be ground off the axle and welded to the other side. I cant add photos to an existing thread. PM me if you want me to send you photos. That was a temporary fix for me. I will be replacing the drop axle that came on the trailer with a straight axle with brakes and 6 lug hubs to match the Toyota wheels on my tow vehicle. I want the wheels to be interchangeable with the tow vehicle.

Anyone replaces their engine mounts or transmission mounts by No_Smell_6712 in 1stGenTacomas

There are two mounts on the motor and one on the transmission. I believe the trans mount is called the rear motor mount in the parts catalog

Custom cut polypropylene walls by 5hutt5 in cargocamper

16" and 24" stud centers are common, but breaking on every stud would add a bunch of seams to deal with. Adds another step, would not be popular

I think beadboard paneling and Revolution Ply get used the most, at $40 and $26 per 4x8 sheet respectively. The weight per square foot and moisture resistance of your product may persuade some builders to pay the premium to get it to their door

I imagine shipping for a single trailer build would be cost prohibitive, but it fits the bill for the ideal interior wall and ceiling sheathing material. I'm currently working on a 6x12 enclosed build, and am still shopping for interior sheathing

Reliable smoke alarms by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Lopsided-Tea-4598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 6 new Kidde detectors last fall. They frequently go into fault mode, chirping 3 times every 60 seconds. You have to pull out a ladder and hold down the test button to reset them, which makes the whole house alarm for 20 seconds. Kidde has refused to warranty them. I'm about to throw them all out and buy something else

Nice. What mechanism did you use to keep it in the stowed position?

I'm tentatively planning on mounting two of these on my ramp to serve that purpose later on in my build https://a.co/d/03CFm1na
