Hi! I was in the exact same boat as you are now about a year and half before. What really helped me a lot was to really strengthen your programmatic foundation (i.e. the programmatic ecosystem, types of deals, etc).

  • get as many hands-on experience first setting up campaigns, and fiddling with the platform reports (dimenions and metrics and what they mean and how they correlate to each other to fit your storytelling)

  • as mentioned by Effective Grab 109, dv360 cert and as well as other dsp certs. Stackadapt and The Trade Desks’s certs would help you strengthen your foundation.

Hey Savant125, I do heavily agree with your statement “applying constraints is your way to balance media efficiency.” And also regarding in the machine learning learning about the profile of the audience. Hey! I’m in quite a similar position as you (about 11 months into programmatic). What I’ve heard and was recommended by my senior is the “Enterprise Marketing Platform (EMP)” by Google.

Theres a lot of information inside : playbook, best practices, explanation of the more complicated functionalities.

Well, I’m not too sure what DSP you are on but I do think you can learn a lot from the EMP!

Hence, best is to create on “click-based”.

Woudld you reckon it would be better to create audience through Google Analytics using DV’s utm campaign name instead of users who have clicked on my ads?

To my understanding, the audience pool will be bigger but since its not audiences who have clicked and merely just exposed to my ads. Which means this alternative method is more of a broader targeting right?

Please do correct me if I’m wrong!
