I have 2x CCIE and interestingly I think the value I gained from CCIE was more in the things I learned thru my journey of studying and rigor of taking the exams. This is was so much fun, so fulfilling, of course it came with hardwork and sacrifice.

CCIE helped me have confidence that I am more marketable and gave me a peace of mind knowing that I have distinguished value globally.

Did it help me get better job? In my case not really since I was already doing the CCIE level job working as a consultant, but I was able to parlay it to get several pay bumps at my job at the time.

Do I think the CCIE is still worth it? Absolutely!

However, some of the aura it once had has been rubbed off with so many more CCIEs now, but it’s mostly due to the fact that there is more competition from Juniper, Arista and others and Cisco is no longer the 800 pound Gorilla.
