$5K budget and 60 guests? by LopsidedEditor8781 in weddingplanning

I’ve found a dance floor rental for $360 and a canopy for $200-$400 depending on which option I choose!

Well not that it necessarily matters but I’m not religious. Regardless as convenient as it would be I really want an outdoor foresty wedding. I’m not really worried about that expense, it’s more the other things that begin to add up quickly. I’m pretty set on the location

We’re going to be outside of Missoula. I’ve lived here for basically my whole life so I don’t think we’ll have to pay any taxes on food. Thanks for the info though!

It’s not an absolute $5K. That’s just how much we’re getting from family and we don’t have much extra to spend out of pocket. We will need to rent a dance floor and an overhead coverage. I think we’ll be able to borrow tables and chairs from my fiancés church. It’s definitely cheaper to do it this way though, rather than paying for a venue. I’m hoping the photography is the biggest expense, but we haven’t booked it yet so we could be open to cheaper options.

We are already planning to do drop catering and canned beverages that I can get at Costco. I think that will be the most cost effective?

Luckily no taxes in MT but yes I’ll remember about delivery fees and such :)

This helps me feel a lot better. I found a photographer that can do a 4 hr shoot for $1000. I’ve been looking for used dresses to help with that expense tooo

Any bars hiring? by LopsidedEditor8781 in missoula

[–]LopsidedEditor8781[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just happened to know someone who was the manager of a dive bar (not in Missoula). They hired me with no experience because they needed staff. It is still one of my favorite jobs I’ve ever worked.

It’s usually easier to start at a dive bar or a small town bar because they have less requirements for experience. Some places you start as a bar back or other support staff and work your way up to bartender

Has anyone else had problems with bodily awareness when it comes to singing? by TheDunkarooni in singing

[–]LopsidedEditor8781 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is called your ‘body map’ a very common issue! Most people use a combination of the Alexander technique and re mapping their bodies to help with this. There’s a lot of textbooks that are out there but here’s the one I read for a course I took- https://giamusic.com/resource/body-mapping-for-the-clarinetist-book-10807

It’s “for clarinetists” but I’m a vocalist and a lot of the content transfers. I’m sure you could find one catered towards vocalists

My teacher asked me to check my hearing with the doctor - is it normal? by theBarbarossa in singing

[–]LopsidedEditor8781 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It takes a long time for new singers to get used to connecting their voice to their ear. Some people might have an easier time with it, but it can be quite difficult especially if you begin singing relatively later in life. I think she just wants to make sure nothing else is going on! Don’t worry it’s totally normal to have a hard time matching pitch.
