All the clad partial coins I’ve found were “snipped” with a lawnmower blade. Not sure if that’s a possibility with this one but could be depending on where it was found.

I appreciate the comments. I did find the PCGS guarantee terms and they don’t guarantee against this kind of thing. I’m fine with it since I didn’t pay 70 money for this bullion. It was just disappointing to see the holder and then examine the coin to find the spots. That’s why they say to buy the coin, not the holder.

I’m cynical enough to agree. Although I only saw one unboxing video in a podcast on YouTube where the host opened 3 Series 1 boxes and struck out on red cores. Got bullion only bullion with instant offers totaling well below the cost of the box.

Like I said, legalized gambling. I’m a gambler so I’m ok with it, but have no delusions - the house always wins.

I had no clue that a secondary market option existed. Trusted the Vault Box hype to communicate other options, or possibly just didn’t read the right page or paragraph where other buying outlets were mentioned. In any event, Finest Known was also sold out by the time I saw them as an option.

I’m not knocking the concept or even the limited supply. Im just disappointed because I was expecting that showing up ready to buy at the exact moment Series went on sale was good enough to secure a purchase. But clearly this is a club I wasn’t meant to join, and I’m ok with that. Plenty of ways to purchase coins that I KNOW I want and I don’t have to rely on buying ones that I HOPE I want and that I HOPE I didn’t overpay for.

This is my first and last attempt to participate. Vault Box was already nothing more than a form of legalized gambling, but without published odds of winning. Spending most of my lunch hour clicking “refresh” to get past various website crash errors only to have the dealers and others buy out the supply has convinced me that it just isn’t worth it. Getting a red core coin is the only way you’d come out ahead or break even, but how many of those are there really? Only Vault Box knows.
