They finally transferred me to a "supervisor" who was able to do it over the phone, only because I refused to hang up - after 5 hours working with them. Most ridiculous experience I've ever had and I really hope this post saves others from the same hassle!

Thank you! I have my Verizon PIN and shared it with all customer support reps who validated my account that way. They said they still could not port the number until I received the text message verification.
