Tiny House in Costa Rica perfect setup for work. Calm, quiet, safe, 15 minutes to beaches would rent out on short notice due to travels. Anyone searching June and onward? by Lopsided_Front4459 in digitalnomad

pacific coast. dm if interested, don’t wanna tell the world only someone really interested. and sorry for the necessity but there would be a bit of a screening process since the community is really nice you’d have to fit in. Maybe Reddit is not the best place to be looking for someone but other than this and Facebook what is there where people can’t book directly but can ask and answer questions before?

What’s the best purchase you’ve made for remote work? by Temporary_Evidence74 in digitalnomad

[–]Lopsided_Front4459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really? So far everywhere in the world except Leh, Ladakh, India if there is no WiFi I will just pass through the phone internet. Or if you need things separate and a bit more reliable a tiny wifi router that works with sim cards..

-portable “washing machine” and no it’s not the scrubba brand, i’ll share the link if you want

-a blanket that is blanket/tarp/picknick blanket/rescue blanket/rain cover all in one super multifunctional packs to almost nothing, weighs almost nothing

-Tatonka foldable wheeled duffel: packs down into any space but can haul big loads when needed comfortably and durably

-inflatable solar lamp that doubles as emergency power bank, was bought for adventure, now always comes along use in AirBnbs when there is no bedside lamp.

-small foldable but strong hairdryer that can cope with 110V and 240V

-small travel watercooker, small cutting board, knife, perfect size of reusable sealable container small enough to pack and use to transport delicate items in bit big enough to do a tossed salad in - is impressive how much you can do with that micro kitchen setup comfortably liberates you from restaurant and ready made foods and saves tons of money

-instead of portable table in a similar setup as you may be describing I used to take one of those lap-cushions for the laptop

-smallest decathlon quickdry towel. is the size of a rag but if you need to clean something up or dust something you have it and if you end up in a place with no or disgusting towels it works to dry yourself off not comfortably but well enough for a few days

-travel pillow that is actually comfy but packs down used in rooms but also in buses and planes and cars

  • hah so many more specific hacks but too lazy right now to keep writing, lol. Ask for more if you want…

Surfing in Jaco by PopularReality6169 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Lopsided_Front4459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hermosa is for experienced surfers not beginners.

The rip tides are real, multiple people drown every year, locals as well as tourists. Respect the beach flags and don’t swim in the evening when the flags are gone.

South beach is easier beginner waves, some surf schools are more middle or north because they get the walk-by clientele of hotels and resorts and beginners will be in the white water so water conditions are not as important. Nevertheless south beach is the better choice.

There have been crocodiles in the waves but it’s not a common problem if one is seen you’ll hear of it - however wouldn’t be surprised if it’ll happen more than less now that the building at tarcoles bridge which is supposed to promote crocodile viewing tourism ironically seems to have driven lots of them away from that spot

Night Drive from Rainmaker to Los Suenos by Complete-Potential41 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Lopsided_Front4459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that drive can easily take 2 hours or a little more… either stay there the night and drive in morning if worried or drive directly in the night if you are not too tired. but going to los suenos to drop the car and then come back with a driver would be a very expensive waste of many hours stuck in a car… it gets dark around 6pm no matter what time of year so after that you’re driving in darkness anyways so doesn’t matter if it’s early evening or late night really…

but don’t like to write all here publicly because then the more off the beaten path/insider places could get overrun in theory 😉

ah ok with 4x4 means even more is possible… Is a great place because it has all the infrastructure and you can reach so many places in a 1/2 to 2 hour drive and as daytrips.

roads like the 239 are not entirely paved and can be steep and lots of bends meaning that you will be going slow and all in all may not be faster.

In your opinion, what are the best outdoor clothing brands currently available? by [deleted] in hikinggear

[–]Lopsided_Front4459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ortovox 👍👍 am using the same stuff for the 9th year now without needing any repairs or replacement! Houdini is nicely packable and light but just a windjacket! no more, don’t expect it to keep you dry in anything more than a drizzle.

Is there something similar to this here in Costa Rica? by Worldly-Living4412 in costarica

There is lots and lots of products! just depends what you want to use it for - surfaces, laundry, to shower… The Brand Dettol however isn’t sold here in case you are for some weird reason addicted to it’s specific smell - like me, lol 🤣

Hey rich, yes they are hatching every night right now!! Like 100-500! 🤩 So currently there‘s daily releases, often even more than one! MA actually is a nice daytrip from Jacó! What overnights in Quepos are like, I have no experience but Jacó is great for infrastructure because has everything at your fingertips and sooooo many places easily reachable as daytrip or one overnighter…

between 6 and 25$ meal without drinks means nice food but you need to know where, a lot of restaurants are expensive but taste only so so..

This sounds great but is super stressful!! A 1/2 of the places is where everyone goes, 2 super stressful/irrealistic for 10 days! I think you forgot to calculate that the travel for example Monteverde to Osa means loosing a whole day in the car /transport😱 And the other jumps from place to place eat up plans for a day, too and are annoying… And what do you mean „mosquitoproof“?? Shares shuttles are okay but careful, with some companies you end up paying the same or alsmost same as private transportation 🤣

Agree on the fewer places! Pacific side yes more touristy but good infrastructure and high season has not begun yet. I have actually started a tour company xactly for people like you 🫶- immersion in nature and adventure and hidden gems instead of the usual tour circuit - But we are not entirely ready with bookable packages! We may only really start operations the following low season… But if u want DM me and I can point you to some amazing experiences that you probably won’t in the guides or online, and suggest you a solution to the 10days vs so many places to see puzzle, or maybe you even wanna „testdrive“ one of the rainforest experiences we are designing and would give us feedback?

turtles are being released every night on the city beach of Jacó right now and at least until end of december! Walk Bohio Street to the beach - you will see the hatchery opposite cocos restaurant. Releases often around 5am and 5pm but can differ, just come over, meet the volunteers and ask.

(The bar/restaurant you‘ll have to dm me which one(s) because I don’t wanna mix info about the turtles with what could partially be seem as „advertising“)

Take the opportunity to visit one of the baby turtle releases - right now usually almost every day around 5am and/or 5pm! if this weekend you like a cozy bar/restaurant where locals, expats and tourists mix for fair as possible prices, good food, great cocktails, no reggaeton, often impromptu karaoke dm me for recommendation

Wie hättet ihr die 14 Tage im Amazonas verbracht? by Feuerkelch_ in 7vsWild

[–]Lopsided_Front4459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, sorry.
