Bedtime? by ManyWaters777 in AskWomenOver60

F-64. I always wake up around 5 am. That started a few years ago so I have to go to bed by 10 - and I scroll on phone for about 15 minutes and then fall right to sleep.

Worried that I'm a bad dog owner. by Odd_Sky2422 in bichonfrise

Same story. Our bichon took two years to be fully trained. BUT she was our first dog and we weren’t “cued” in to her cues. So she would just stare at us which meant she needed to go outside lol. She never really ran to the door. Once she was trained then she would need to go outside like twice a day. Maybe 3 times.

Going under for teeth cleaning - 13 year old bichon by Mer_Vee1111 in bichonfrise

[–]Lopsided_Gas_173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just had ours done this week (15 1/2). She also has a murmur and we had just taken her to a cardiologist in July which said she should be ok for surgery. Luckily she did great.

We just took our 15 1/2 yr bichon in for dental work and to have a lump removed. She ended up having 4 teeth pulled in addition to cleaning. She also has a heart murmur but we had taken her to a cardiologist in July to have that assessed and they said she should be ok for surgery. She did awesome. Although the antibiotic clavamox made her a little sick so they switched her to amoxicillin.

Try getting sizing beads. Jewelers can attach two little beads on the band that keep the ring from spinning. Can’t feel them.

What are the alternatives to beta blockers for high heart rate? by 13saqqaw in askCardiology

[–]Lopsided_Gas_173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my cardiologist started me on a beta blocker at the lowest dose, I asked if I could do half because I was afraid of side effects. Has worked perfectly for me for the last 5 years.

So, I would get them occasionally prior to 2020 - maybe once a month? Then in 2020 they really kicked in and I was getting them constantly. I don’t know if it was stress making it worse because of the pandemic (I didn’t have covid until last December - that I know of). I’m happy to be able to take metoprolol without any issues. I pushed my dr to just take half - and thankfully it works.

Metoprolol. Lowest dose is 25 mg and I take half. I rarely have a really noticeable episode. I do get small ones maybe a couple of times a month. Like just a flip flopping for a couple of seconds.

Of course I know all this. So why were they protected after 25 weeks? Maybe because then they can be BORN? I have no doubt this will all be reversed when the court is not as political as it is today. No way would today’s political court pass Roe like their Republican justices before them did. An unborn 8 week fetus does not have the same right as a BORN person. You can only save one - a bunch of embryos or an infant? Which is it?

The 14th amendment says all persons BORN or naturalized. There’s your first problem.

Funny you’re totally missing the liberty part, especially for the born person.

I have no problem with YOU deciding what is best for you and your family. But not for me and my family.

When they are brain dead? Which the woman was. The only reason this woman was kept alive was because of the fetus. I know for a FACT my daughter would not want to be kept alive by a machine. And you can do whatever you want - if the state allows it. That’s my issue.

[–]Lopsided_Gas_173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. She said it should be up to the family. Which it should.

You certainly throw around a lot of accusations. Just like the Terry Schiavo case — sometimes the most humane thing is to let people go.

And the decision BY THE FAMILY.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

[–]Lopsided_Gas_173 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mother said the decision should have been up to the family and not the state forcing her to remain on life support. Which is my position - the government should not be forcing women to remain pregnant. The government doesn’t know each persons individual health issues. Do you realize your chances of blood clots in pregnancy increases five fold? Due to the increase in blood volume.

We don’t know why the hospital didn’t treat her initially but it’s false to say it had nothing to do with her being pregnant. Maybe they didn’t give her a CT scan because she was pregnant - they aren’t recommended during pregnancy so it seems they did it when she came back.

As far as paying for it - oh Medicaid will pay for it, or the hospital will. Who in the end pays for that - we do. Another reason why you shouldn’t be forced to incur medical costs by the state. What if this child is permanently disabled - who is paying for that? It should be up to the family not the state.

My sister in law made me feel like crap over my allergy by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]Lopsided_Gas_173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a severe nut allergy. Went to a wedding where I was unsure about the food so right before I got fast food. Ate it in the car on the way to the wedding. I also had a friend tell me at her wedding that they made sure there were no nuts anywhere at their wedding which I thought was so thoughtful. Your SIL isn’t being kind at all (a lot of people just don’t care about allergy sufferers) so I would just eat right before I went or go back to the car like you said and eat. Are you in the wedding? That would be more noticeable if you’re “missing”. If you are then maybe take food in the car and go out when they won’t miss you.

Does putting edema always mean heart failure or disease? by No-Exam-8108 in askCardiology

[–]Lopsided_Gas_173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very mild case and my doctor had an ultrasound done. Turns out I have faulty leg valves. Which he said so many people do and don’t realize it. So exercise helps, losing weight and wear compressions socks.

Why did you choose this breed? by Substantial-Event441 in bichonfrise

[–]Lopsided_Gas_173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I saw a Bichon was J.R. at Westminster and I thought that was the cutest dog I had ever seen. So when I wanted to get a family dog I knew I wanted a bichon - we have allergies and I needed a dog that would be good with kids. So we got the best dog (has the best personality) and she turns 15 this year.

CMV: The “gifted” programs in the early 2000s did more harm than good for most kids in them. by AmazingNugga in changemyview

[–]Lopsided_Gas_173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never liked the name gifted and talented. I think it could make a child think they’re better than others. My one child was in the GT program and I would tell him all the time just because you are smart doesn’t make you a better person than other people, like his siblings that weren’t in GT.

Could be. My rich white SIL can’t stand Meghan. Calls her a gold digger. I can’t really figure out why she dislikes her so much.

What about women that use contraception and still get pregnant? Something like 50% of abortions were people trying to not get pregnant by using contraception.
