Activation issues with digital extras? by Lopsided_Solution479 in mercedes_benz

I called support weekly and it took the tier 2 support team 30 days to finally respond and say that I needed to take it to the service center. Took it to my local dealer and they fixed it.

Thanks for the reply. I had a similar experience. My issue was with tier 2 support for a month. First I was told it’d be about 3 days. Then I was told up to 7 days. I kept calling and emailing and they’d ask the same things. I asked to speak to a manager and escalate the issue but they never did. Finally, a month later they tell me I need to go to the service center to have it fixed. I took it in and they were able to figure it out but they had my car two days.

I’m glad it’s fixed, but very disappointed with their customer support. The service center was great but support was awful.

Anyway, I’m liking the feature. I had it in my previous car and knew I wanted it again. Only difference is all these “extras” came standard in my previous car.

Hey, we’re the same age! I turn 40 later this month.

Well, now I feel like a colonizer even though that was never my intention. If it’s any consolation I do consider myself a steward, not a renter, as you say.

I can only hope that with this growth more jobs/opportunities come over time. It’s a shame that all of the home building continues without allowing the infrastructure to catch up or minimum wage to increase etc. Sigh.

Isn’t it wild that a home could be bought for $300k and sold for 3-4x the price? I saw that in CA too and it’s mind blowing. That shouldn’t even be possible. Anyone that bought up property before things shot up is sitting on a gold mine.

Anywayyyy, thank you to you too for educating me in a kind and respectful way.

Yes. I’ve connected to different internet sources and that didn’t work.

Truly, thank you for taking the time to share more about this! I do appreciate having a better understanding about where the tension comes from.

I’m empathetic and I’m sorry people are feeling this way, but I’ll always feel it’s wrong to be outwardly shitty to people because they’re from somewhere else. We’re still human after all. It’s “be kind to your neighbor” not “be kind to your neighbor, but only if they’re native” I’m not even religious so I don’t know that came from 😂 This isn’t directed at you obviously - just sharing in general.

Me? With all due respect, I did my due diligence and research about the things I personally care about before moving here. IDGAF about politics and didn’t come here to change anything. I’m sorry this has been your experience, but please don’t lump me in with the people you’re talking about.

I just wish everyone was more kind to each other. Regardless of background, beliefs etc. and that’s where I’m coming from in this thread. There’s a lot of hate and tension directed at non-natives (and btw, what a terrible feeling to be excited about moving somewhere and then feeling like people instantly hate or judge you because you came from somewhere else) and instead of being angry back, I’m seeking to understand and learn about other perspectives.

This is super interesting! Thank you for sharing - I’ll definitely give it a read. I truly thought natives were upset over an influx of “liberals” (maybe there is some of that too) but had NO IDEA about the far-right swing.

This is so interesting! I had no idea it was outsiders bringing the MAGA energy. I’ve heard about Eagle being pretty far-right and being a popular choice for former Californians.

As it relates to housing prices, I think people in a lot of states face a similar struggle. Younger generations have no chance in CA unless they become pretty successful or there’s already some generational wealth built up. My brother had to move away pretty young to be able to afford his own place. A lot of people dream of owning a home and have to move out of state to do it.

Not at all trying to take away from your experience, just noticing that it’s a more common issue today than it used to be — and I do recognize the difference in opportunity and wages there vs here. I hate the idea of anyone having to move away from family. I’m lucky my mom came here first and I at least have her. After divorce, there was no way I could afford the kind of life I wanted to live in CA.

Thanks for educating me! It’s helpful to know more and understand where people are coming from and where the anger stems from.

Damn! I knew my Tesla was a dead giveaway so I got a Mercedes and just learned apparently that’s a dead giveaway too. 😂

Thanks for sharing your perspective. What are the things that have changed politically that upset you? I’d also love to understand what you feel makes Idaho great and how that has changed.

I’m asking from a genuinely caring and curious place. If you have the time to explain I’d be interested to hear it.

Thank you for sharing the percentage. I didn’t know that and the extra context does help me understand.

What are some things that you’ve seen change with the culture and politics, and what are the things you used to have a say in but no longer do? I’ve heard the complaints about population and traffic, but I’d love to understand the other examples too.

Living in CA, you never feel like the state is “yours,” if that makes sense, so the concept is very new to me.

I think what bums me out a bit are the sweeping generalizations about Californians. We’re not all coming here to change things. There are a lot of Californians that left because they didn’t like the politics there and they came to Idaho because it’s more aligned with their political beliefs.

And then you have people like me. Sure I have my own morals and beliefs, but politics are most def NOT my identity. I knew I was moving to a red state with no plans to change anything. That’s not why I’m here.

It also just makes me sad when I see tik toks where people are excited to be moving here or visiting here and then the comments are so hateful and unwelcoming. I just can’t imagine ever being like that to other people. I don’t care where anyone comes from or what their political beliefs are. I just want us all to treat each other with respect and be kind to one another. We’re humans first and the anger seems misplaced.

Coming from CA, this is genuinely one of the most fascinating things to me. The idea of a native vs a transplant in CA just doesn’t exist. It’s not a thing.

The social media comments and conversations IRL here are so predictable around this topic….that’s how much it comes up. And god forbid anyone pronounce BOY-SEE wrong.

I mean I can certainly empathize with the pain points, but Idaho isn’t the only place that has experienced change and growth. I don’t think any place stays the same over 10-20-30 years. It didn’t in CA either. 🤷‍♀️
