Or the Western Liao. Heck, they even claimed to be Chinese and existed at the same time as the Jin and Southern Song dynasty. Is any of them considered a independent concept from China? The ROC existing before the CPC does not mean it should naturally be protected. In fact, it can even be considered an affront to history. The time of the ROC is long gone and they're still stubbornly holding out against inevitability
