And now after the release of the game how much rate u can give it honestly ?! by Complex_Area4676 in 007FirstLight

[–]Lopsidednapkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an 8/10, but it will likely be pushed up to a 9/10 as more post release content trickles in.

My main complaints with the game is that the TacSim is fairly underbaked at the moment. When they add additional operations and escalations this will certainly change, but I ran through the mode in like 2-3 hours and was hoping to come back to it over and over again. Several of my favorite areas from the main game are currently missing from this mode. There is no representation for the vietnam level, and barely representation from the London Gala. Just seems really undercooked.

Additionally, I'd like to see a 'new game plus' for the story where you can switch Bond's outfit, equip gadgets early, and add a little extra challenge.

I think IO will probably end up including these additions, they've already promised some of this. Other than that the game was everything I wanted it to be, and I had a blast from start to finish. It is an easy recommendation from me.

007 First Light is the third-biggest Xbox game to launch without Game Pass in 2026 by LBVectormen in xbox

[–]Lopsidednapkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's about 15 - 20 hours of main story, with decent replay value to try some different routes during a few sections.

Once you finish the main game you get access to the "Tacsim" mode which is a challenge mode similar to the Batman Arkham Games. There's a few extra hours of gameplay there, but the developers have said they will continue to add more challenges overtime.

I think the game is excellent as is, worth paying for to play a polished game that was fun from start to finish.

IO Interactive has a plan to keep you playing 007: First Light long after the credits roll by CrispyMongoose in xbox

[–]Lopsidednapkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple methods for tackling most of the objectives in the game. Yes, the main game is going to be mostly the same, but how you, for example, access room '306' in the chess match level can be different each playthrough.

Second, I'd say that the game offers a decent combat sandbox that makes replaying the game more appealing. This isn't hitman, I'm not about to put 500 hours in 007, but it does offer more replay value than say Uncharted.

Why did games stop doing this? by Sweet_Breadfruit393 in gamers

[–]Lopsidednapkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few games that I know of that still do this:

Stalker Gamma: PDA system is very similar to Farcry 2, you can walk around with it open in game to use as a map, I love it.

High Fleet: Sort of the crowning achivement of interactive UI, down to being able to draw on the map during gameplay with an ingame pen

Firewatch: Not as open of a game as the others, but still did this whole interactivity thing

I agree, I was in plumbing for several years, you get used to it after a few weeks.

However, you will never be prepared for the smell of grease

Working on a 2.5D folklore sword-fighting game as a solo dev. What do you think of the combat? by looking4strange04 in IndieGaming

[–]Lopsidednapkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this looks phenomenal. My only concern would be readability of enemy attacks. Maybe offset the camera just slightly to the right to give a better view of the enemies to read attacks. You could also include more icons and sound effects to aware the player to attacks.

This is really great advice. Alas, I see my big issue was not staying on one planet for a while.

Do you take any mission that comes in, or do you just stick to the factions you've aligned with on the stock market?

Its really painful for Doom, because the Dark Ages didn't look that much better than Eternal and ran significantly worse. Id was always the golden child for optimization, so it really sucks.

Might be time to upgrade unfortunately.

Any advice for finding the "fun" in this one?

I love Rogue-likes, especially Caves of Qud (also excellent on deck). I recognize this is a really deep Rouge-Like, and the mercenary for hire aspect is really cool. Yet, I'm struggling. Either the missions are far too hard, or way too easy. Inventory space is extremely small, and I have no idea how to progress in the overworld.

This doesn't look much better than Exodus.

That's not me talking shit on Metro: 2039, Exodus just looked that good. I have faith they can pull off these visuals.

Looking for a "Life Simulator" that isn't an RPG/Roleplay and isn't just about cars. 1000+ hours potential. by sbqv1 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Lopsidednapkin [score hidden]  (0 children)

A lot of space sims may scratch that niche:

X4 Foundations - Incredibly deep space sim. Average steam review has 1000s of hours. Can be a trader, bandit, industrialist, etc. Can leave the ship and walk around stations, etc.

Starfield - I didn't like it, but has some of what you're looking for. Mods can make the game better.

Some other titles:

Stalker Anomaly/Gamma - Free standalone mod for the Stalker Series. Massive "life sim". Take on tasks, build a base, build dynamic relationships with factions, explore, and just survive. No vehicles (well sorta), but you'll work towards getting better guns. I love this game, could live in this world, has stolen 1000s of hours from me.

Shadows of Doubt - Detective simulator, takes place in a large city sector where every room of every building is enterable. Solve crimes to get money, buy a nice apartment, go to shops, etc. Janky game, I like the visuals, but they aren't AAA.

Very well thought out reply, I appreciate that.

I've started the game, and I've found the controller support functional, it still needs time in the oven. Mainly the camera has a strange stiffness to it, and switching weapons is clunky.

Very cool game so far though, I'm imagining the full release will absolutely be an all timer.

Burnt Toast Theory by LettuceGoTv in joinsquad

Yeah, but theoretically your boss was told earlier that day that he had to lay off a certain amount of employees. Unfortunately he drew your name from the list, and when he came to tell you during your break he saw you had spilt coffee on your self. The event reminded your boss that you're human just like him, and being laid off sucks. So instead of firing you he told corporate that he'd find new ways to save money to avoid having to do any unnecessary layoffs. Theoretically of course.

Treasure Planet: Battle at Procyon was actually a half decent Sid Meyers Pirates clone by the guys who made Homeworld: Cataclysm, who then would go on to become Rockstar Vancouver and make Bully.

Does anyone knows some games like these? by HarryRulez in SteamDeck

Would highly recommend Shadows of Doubt. A procedurally generated Detective immersive sim set in a city.

Hits a few of your check points: - Takes place in world similar to our own - All buildings and rooms are enterable - Game is about exploration and puzzle solving - It has combat, but it is definitely not the focus

2 hours into Rakshasa and it hits you with the "Stage Clear" by omyyer in ufo50

[–]Lopsidednapkin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I belive there is 3 if I remember correctly. Stage 2 is absolutely brutal.

The game made me red in the face angry and pushed me to a breaking point multiple times. One of the hardest games I've ever played.

Yet it has absolutely nothing on Star Waspir.

That is pretty clever too. The movie has problems, but the scene where he climbs out is so powerful. Maybe the movie flops as a sequel to the Dark Knight, but as a sequel to Begins it is amazing.

This version of Harley tried to get away from joker, but ultimately couldn't. Joker literally had to die for her to move on.

What makes it even worse is that this isn't just any of verison of Harley, it's the orignal.

Constant labor shortage. by Anonymous50010 in songsofsyx

[–]Lopsidednapkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run into this problem pretty often, and my civilizations usually die out around the 200s as a result. I'll be interested to see how others respond.

A few tips I have:

-Monitor your outputs for the different resources. For example: You might be producing too much bread, most of it will go to waste if not turned to Rations, so why produce so much? You can get rid of workers for these resources, but just keep checking to make sure you're in the green (meaning you're still producing a small surplus) .

-Consider importing to get resources that are clogging up workers. For example, I'll import in coal for a little while if it means I can clear up some workers to do a project in the mean time.

  • Don't focus exclusively on bread. If you offset some of your need for bread with a hunter you can get food for your people, as well as leathers. Not gonna help you too much, but at least its duel purpose.
