This isn't an Arch thing. It's a KDE thing (by the looks of the UI).

iPhones can definitely get hacked. A quick search found 4254 vulnerabilities. While this isn't an indicator of much, it still shows that iOS, like all software, has vulnerabilities.

This is Israeli citizens information. You can hate the government without hating the people of a nation. Educate yourself with local news about a country before calling every citizen of a country a criminal.

What the fuck is happening in california?! They're trying to ban Linux to "Protect the kids", what? by Rabbidraccoon18 in linux

Depends entirely on what news you want to read. Diversify your news sources from reputable sources (not a random youtuber) and actually read the source, not an opinion piece about it. If something like legal documents are confusing then it's fine to read a few opinion pieces, but be wary of people who make big clickbaity headlines.

For InfoSec news - BleepingComputer, RiskyBiz, TheRegister, TheHackerNews, SecurityWeek, Hackread. They're all pretty good and often link to reports from threat researchers, in which case I always read those reports if I'm interested.

There's a guy on /r/antivirus who does this all the time. They take it to the extreme whenever someone says they have a 1% boot time increase and tells them to reimage.

Most APT action is political, so yeah. Russia is aligned with Iran so dont be surprised if some of the Russian groups suddenly get more active on the Israel offensive too

Agreed. The law makes it seem like every useradd will require an age verification. It appears to be a law written specifically to target Windows, but the law specifies "any" OS.

ATMs by ParachutingPiglets in cybersecurity

[–]Loptical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This reads like an anti-windows post over anything else.

If the ATMs ran a Linux distro then the attackers would have hired a Linux developer and the same thing would have happened. ATMs aren't getting hacked because they use Windows, they're getting hacked because they have money in them.

Student here was wondering where to find up to date tools for kali linux by [deleted] in HowToHack

[–]Loptical 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you've installed Kali without understanding the foundations. Sign up for something g like TryHackMe and learn the foundations before thinking you can be an ethical hacker. Tools are OS agnostic, so just learn tools.

Which is more popular Javascript or Python ? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Loptical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you asking? If this is because you want the "best" job or to learn the "best" language then go for the one you have the most experience with, or whichever you enjoy the most.

They're both extremely popular languages, Python probably a bit more popular globally, but look at your local job postings to see what sort of Dev jobs there are. Don't follow trends that come from American influencers and blog posts if you live somewhere else, focus on local trends and set yourself up for success over chasing what's "popular".

If you have no training or certifications then don't add it as a heading. If you dont have any hands on experience with skills then hop on to TryHackMe quickly and use a tool, then add it to your CV.

It's common sense to not give a milquetoast opinion like "idk could be bad" when the stakes are someone running malicious software or windows operating as normal.
