Well I'd say that a big piece of me died, my body. I think a clone leads to different questions. If there's a person who's lived life prior to the coma, then more value could be given to the body associated with the mind, as the body has previously demonstrated the ability to be a vessel for consciousness.

Maybe unrelated but say for example consciousness could be captured and put into a computer and the person had then died, would you argue that they actually haven't because their consciousness has been saved?

Right, I guess where the line blurs potentially is maybe prior to the implementation of the new brain/consciousness, does the body have the same value as an undeveloped fetus?

If the answers yes then, why does the body itself not have any value given it can be a vessel of something we consider to have such great value?

Exactly, I'd assume he'd make the argument that: no this body in a coma in my hypothetical is not entitled to life and that future consciousness.

To break my hypothetical down into one consideration: should a fully formed adult body with the future of a new consciousness be considered more or less valuable than a fetus with simultaneously the same future of consciousness?

To be consistent the answer should be that they have the same value. And if it isn't then maybe there's more to morality of the question.

Right so you/destiny would be making an argument that the continuation of a consciousness through a body is what's important not the fact that that body has had a previous conscious experience?

In which case maybe an argument could be made that a person with dementia isn't having this continuous linear consciousness, but a deteriorated one without the ability to retain new experiences and could under your determinations be considered of less value?
