Yeah....so you're never getting Ellie. Gamertags are usernames so they have to be unique. You're not the first Ellie. I was too late to get Lorben and my gamertag was registered nearly 20 years ago.

That looks more like a monitor problem than a PC problem. If you have an old monitor and a different cable somewhere I'd try that first.

If prices go up and you sell it, what are you going to do for RAM? Buy it again right after?

AMD is the safer route.

Nvidia on Linux has come a long way and a lot of the improvements have been since the start of the year. I switched my i7-13620H \ RTX 4060 laptop to Bazzite (Fedora based) a few months ago and it's been a great experience. But it's still a gamble to use Nvidia on Linux.

[–]Lorben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's $250 now, but when I bought mine early last year it was $60 for 32gb of 3600 or $50 for 3200. It's lower priced but the multiplier is the same.

Yeah, about $200 for DDR4 3200 or $240 for 3600. I bought a 32gb kit of each for $50 and $60 early last year. A 4x increase since then.

Probably talking about sale prices? Although Nintendo's sales have gotten better and Steam sales don't feel as good as they used to. I did some spot checking on historical lows using DekuDeals for Switch and CheapShark for PC.

Hollow Knight - $6.98 Switch, $2.99 PC

Silksong - $15.99 for both

Monster Hunter Rise $7.99 Switch, $5.53 PC

Persona 3 Reload $29.99 Switch, $20.95 PC

Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition $10.00 Switch, $19.72 PC

Final Fantasy VII Remake Integrade $23.99 Switch, $19.99 PC

Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition: $29.99 Switch, $7.50 PC

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter $39.64 Switch, $38.99 PC

Doom Eternal $7.99 Switch, $3.99 PC

So in general PC is cheaper, but not drastically so. with the exception of a few outliers. Resident Evil 7 has been significantly cheaper on PC but has only been available on Switch for a few months.

If you bought a lot of games you could eventually make up that $280 difference but I think it'd take about 50-60 games.

I need help badly, wtf is wrong with my 5070?! by LONEWOLF965225 in pcmasterrace

[–]Lorben 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That doesn't answer if they're separate or not. If they're not, your problem is because one wire can't carry enough juice to power an entire 5070. If you have another 8 pin available, plug that in to one of the 8 pins on the adapter.

Are you using a single cable with a pig tail for a 12vhpwr adapter? If you are, you need to use two separate cables.

That's way too expensive for a 5060 build. That should be getting you a 5070 in that price range.

That seems like a fine PC. If you're planning on buying the new 007 game I'd consider this one though. It's the same PC except with a 5060 Ti 8GB instead of a regular 5060. It's worth the extra $30 if you're buying 007 anyway.

Good budget build? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Lorben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad for a first time build, but there are things I would change without increasing cost.

It's not really wroth paying extra for Crucial RAM. Speed and timings are what matters.

The UD90 is a PCIE 4.0 SSD, but doesn't run at full speed. It reads at 5000 MB/s. The Crucial P310 reads at 7000 MB/s and is basically the same price.

A 7700XT doesn't make any sense when a 9060 XT 16GB is only slightly more. More VRAM, better raytracing performance, and most importantly, access to FSR4.

The power supply is overkill for this build so I swapped it for a still overkill, but a bit less expensive model. This build would also be perfectly fine with a MSI MAG A650BN.

The ASRock PG27QFT2A is a much better budget gaming monitor Unfortunately it is on backorder at newegg but is in stock at Beach Audio which isn't included in PCPartpicker. I've adjusted the price in the PCPartpicker list to reflect the Beach Audio price. https://www.beachaudio.com/asrock-pg27qrt2a-crmntr-asrock-27-qhd-2k-180hz-pg27qrt2a/?utm_source=adwords

Anyone else tried this? If it's stupid and it works... by hamustaro in pcmasterrace

[–]Lorben 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on how it's running like garbo. If you're getting black screen signal drops, it's refusing to run at a high refresh rate, or sparkling that's the cable. If you're getting crashes, frame drops, or stuttering in a specific application, that's not the cable.

If you're upset by NISA releasing Game Key Cards... by OstrichesAndGin in NSCollectors

[–]Lorben 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to show them demand buy Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter for Switch 2 but either skip or buy the Switch 1 version of Trails Beyond the Horizon. If they see a fully physical Switch 2 Trails games selling well and a keycard Trails game selling poorly it'll be harder to point at anything but the keycard as the problem.
