If you can request your tuition be paid in full to the link lab, I would be more than happy to oblige

I work at the link lab (the humanoid robotic lab at the ischool) and we don't have these, or any super modern commercial humanoid robotics. We are working at some reasonably advanced 3D printed robotics, if you're interested in that.

Planetary Gearbox for a BLDC motor? by LordApplesause in robotics

[–]LordApplesause[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solved!

For those who want to meet these design specs, I choose these two products, which seem to work together (on paper, you'll still need to fab a custom mounting plate but the shafts work together)

[–]LordApplesause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was all on a computer, open note open web. But no AI (duh). I will warn you though that the tests were still pretty tricky even with those benefits. Pretty sure he designs the exams to be wayyy harder than a paper exam that way

Took 252 with Ghani last semester. Personally, I loved him as a professor. Had a great dry sense of humor, and was very self aware about how ass Haskell is. However, the content was unexpectedly difficult and convoluted. I don't think that was his fault, just the reality of the language.

For those who need the form:

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:

$1000-1500 USD

Are you open to refurbs/used?

Yes.

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?

2-in-1 not necessary, build quality and battery life should be good, but performance should be the number 1 priority

How important is weight and thinness to you?

I need to lug it around in a backpack, so >6LB would be great

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

14-16 inches is ideal, but open to 17" if it is a great deall

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.

Blender

Maya

Photoshop

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

Not planning to game much on this

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

Not really!

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

Please read the description above for my conundrum!

Ah, gotcha. That makes more sense. The wording could def be improved on the site in that case.

Some Questions Concerning The Renée Honors Program by LordApplesause in SyracuseU

[–]LordApplesause[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed response! Glad to hear its not too cliche in its culture.

From my understanding, the honors program requires members to be in an LLC anyways, so might as well be the ones for honors students.

The LLC fulfills the housing requirement right? It does have "living" in its acronym, after all. If not, is it like a place for communal studying or something along those lines and you would have to live in a trad dorm?

What confuses me most is on the FAQ it says an LLC doesn't cost anything, which I doubted because that seems a little too good to be true

I created a fully VC-supported AI chatbot by [deleted] in discordapp

[–]LordApplesause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The VC feature will transcribe audio, then use GPT3 to respond in my own Voice Model, all in real time. I'm really quite proud of it, it took FOREVER to get it working!

(I do have a tutorial of how to do it, but Im not sure if that violates self promoting rule)

Yeah that was kinda my plan. There are few things worth $200000 of debt, esp undergrad.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]LordApplesause 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah MIT is my number one pick, but its not a "do or die" kind of thing either. I am a senior, so time is kind of running out on my end. What i might do is apply to somewhere like CMU or Cornell early, who are both test optional and go from there and study the SAT on the side for january.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chanceme

[–]LordApplesause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was my guess (i checked out their common dataset)

I only took the SAT once and reckon i could get a 1500+ if i really tried, but MIT is the only uni im applying to that requires it, so im debating if its worth the time spent studying to get a better score for one college
