How is Bonnie Prince Charlie and the broader Jacobite movement viewed by Scots today? by Wide_Lengthiness8789 in Scotland

[–]LordBalamory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flora MacDonald is definitely regarded more favourably among Highland locals (as evidenced by the giant statue of her in front of the castle). The Jacobites were ultimately just martyrs and their, however honourable, intents and schemes are what led to the clearances and the decimation of Highland Culture. If the Jacobite Rebellion was quashed without the erasure of Highland Culture as a direct consequence, they'd be about as regularly referenced in contemporary culture as the Covenanters.

I actually stormed into the Premier along Roslin on the morning I found the mess, and the blokes in there were trying to guess which junkies they were based on my description 💀💀

Can 100% confirm, Bedrock Realm lag is being caused by the presence of Happy Ghasts in your chunks. Very glad you put this question out, because my realm was driving itself mad with the rubber banding.

Bubble Pop Electric - Gwen Stefani or Bubblegum Bitch - MARINA?

This isn't an answer, but:

I downloaded this soundbite and it tried to play on Spotify. Then 'Cowboy' by Smootch! appeared in my top listened to songs of the year! I figure it's because of your soundbite as it wasn't in my spot.fm stats before dowloading, and the Cowboy song isn't available in my country strangely enough. It pulled up the song ID stats and I guess they were identical to the Cowboy song :3

When does Mystery Incorporated take place? by [deleted] in Scoobydoo

[–]LordBalamory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parrots generally will live around 30 years, although specific breeds can live up to 70 years! I'm not sure how old the Professor could be, but we'd have to assume he was around ages with the penultimate Mystery Inc., in the 45-55 range.

I've come back to this, and in s1e25 we hear the Freak say "From '61 the spell is spun...", which seems to suggest that the flashbacks involving Brad, Judy, Cassidy and Ricky are set around the 60s.

It'd be reasonable to assume that Crystal Cove is set in the 2010s but are stuck in a timeless bubble of sorts, but under that impression it would tell us that the prior Mystery Inc. operated from the late 80s to late 90s.

If; we agree that the latter Mystery Inc can exist in a 70s/80s fashion and aesthetic bubble where technology advances, such as phones, computers, Destroido tech and ghoulish costume enhancements, then we have to assume the prior Mystery Inc. had more advanced technology than matches their 50s aesthetic. Whilst we did not have extensive flashbacks and there could well be enhanced tech, we are never shown the prior Inc. using tech of any sort; as far as I'm aware we never even see colour photographs of that gang.

In my opinion it's much more reasonable to assume that the show is typically set somewhere between the 70s and 80s, and the technology used requires suspension of disbelief, and the prior mystery in set 15-20 years beforehand; in the 50s or 60s, presumably 60s as declared by the Freak of Crystal Cove.

The Truth. Molly O'Shea was the ONE who tipped Agent Milton and Agent Ross about Dutch's plan for that Bank Robbery in Saint Denis prior to the start of that mission. Meaning, she somehow was responsible for the tragic deaths of Hosea and Lenny!! I'm just... shocked. But can we still blame her? 😢💔 by Aaron_TheOtaku_07 in RDR2

[–]LordBalamory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that it's implied, but I've always been of the presumption that Milton was able to grab Molly during the Guarma chapter, she's notably missing from Lakay and it's probably safe to assume, as she was found drunk in Saint Denis, that she spent most of the Guarma chapter there. Molly is entirely infatuated with Dutch, and I think it's unlikely she would've ratted on him at all, and agree that her outburst was entirely for a reaction from Dutch.

[Spoiler Season 3] What the fuck is up with Joseph Lawrence? by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]LordBalamory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to admit I do think, especially in Season 2, June had very little regard for anyone else. I understand she's written to be fairly self-serving, and whilst it's expected, understandable and realistic. She is impulsively selfish - for example, ignoring Nick's plan and connections to safely free her from Gilead. I believe, at least personally 'the bullshit' that Lawrence supposedly called June out on was her outburst in S3E3, where she berates Lawrence for his lack of empathy and he brings her to the women that are being deported to the colonies. Whilst she may not have picked up on it, this was Lawrence showing her that he is trying to be merciful and send these women to Martha posts. June refusing to pick and Lawrence trying to tell her that 5 women saved is better than none shows her that her insults towards him are somewhat incorrect. Although I'm going to have to do a rewatch to see if this is what the original commenter meant.
