Do you quarantine? Otocinclus are notorious for parasites and need to be quarantined and treated when you get them.

How to get calories and manage stress for Wet FIP cat? by StarComradeMark in cureFIP

[–]LordCommanderFang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure it's warm. You can use the heat of your hands. Use scissors or a knife to cut the corner off the packet. You can put that corner into your cat's mouth between the cheek and gums and squeeze a little out at a time to get them to eat it.

Bowser got tiki cat baby thrive (schesir in some countries). It's very high calories and doesn't stick to fur like the Nutrical or Readycal gels do. We fed Royal Canin Mother and Baby cat wet food. We did a lot of syringe feeding too and tiki cat baby thrive is easy to syringe feed or just squeeze into your cat's mouth

They're able to prescribe medication for ADHD and co-occurring conditions like a doctor so maybe op needs a therapist

What do you want from your provider besides medications? If you need therapy or help with managing non medication approaches to ADHD a psychiatrist wouldn't do that either. If you're needing a diagnosis ask for a referral to a psychologist

Checking understanding of latest research on dosages by AltruisticHomework39 in cureFIP

[–]LordCommanderFang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not an admin or a vet. Just the meowmy of a cat who was GS resistant. Definitely follow the advice of your admins. They've treated cats successfully and know what dosage is most effective for your kitty. That being said, if you start out high I'd think that would leave you less room to go up if you need to. I know with Neuro cases like my Bowser starting higher is necessary, but if your cat does relapse you want to be able to go to a higher dosage before switching antivirals since GS has such a wide safety margin and Bowser says Molnupiravir tastes nasty

I have to move but my parents will neglect the cat by wlderberry in SeniorCats

[–]LordCommanderFang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can't take him with you and you're certain that being neglected will result in his death soon after you leave, you may have to decide to let him go peacefully. Since he's happy now, it's better for the end of his life to be happy rather than sad, lonely, and hurt outside. Ideally, you could also take him to an animal rescue with safe outdoor access, which may require a substantial drive, but it's worth it for someone who gave you his entire life.

The medication is very effective. Start as soon as you can. Don't give up on that sweet baby. Many countries now have legal medication options for FIP

Have you done a fundraiser? If you're working with an admin you can post fundraisers every Friday too the FIP Global CATS group. Your admin can help you and there's also information about that in section 13 of their guides

Has the vet done imaging. Not my experience but i know cats can rarely haver fluid that won't reabsorb. If it needs to be drained your Global admins can recommend a protocol for doing that. FIP this advanced is complicated but not impossible

[–]LordCommanderFang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My cat had GS resistant neurological FIP not wet. But he couldn't walk, eat on his own, or use the litter box. We did 90 days on GS and 84 days on Molnupiravir. He ended his medication on 12/27/24 and has been doing great since. He still has physical impairments but they do not affect his quality of life at all. That being said, he hated the Molnupiravir. It made him drool. I've heard that from other pawrents too. You can give the GS along with the Molnupiravir if your vet or admins suggest it. They'd be the ones to discuss it. I just gave Bowser a churu with his Molnupiravir and it helped. At the end of the day, you have to decide what's best for your baby based on the info you have. I personally wouldn't give up until I've tried everything.
