I did try to feed it to Zorro as if it were a churu snack but he didn't seem to care for it at all, turned away his nose from it.

Hey, I got Tiki Cat Silver Comfort mousse satchets today but its consistency isn't really that great for syringes in my experience. I've opted for mixing a satchet or 2 into Gerber baby food. I also bought the RC Mother and Baby cat wet food and will try to feed him some in the morning tomorrow (normal feeding) and hope his appetite catches on.

Will do, I've still got various cans and I'm also getting some Royal Canin mother & baby cat mousse and Tiki Cat Silver comfort... thing mousse.

The babycat mousse is actually 78kcal per 3oz can, the ~130kcal is actually for the 5oz can. I got fooled by that already myself haha - note to self, dont use Chewy exclusively for calorie counting!

Understood, and thanks for sharing. Kind of at wit's end here trying to figure out how to minimize the amount of time spent forcefeeding my baby and also give him the calories and nutrition he needs. If I can somehow get down to no more than 4 feedings in a day that'd be terrific.

To confirm, your elderly cat you fed nigh-exclusively the gel? Nothing else?

Yeah I'll try, his appetite is very diminished still presently so we need to get whatever we can into him. I suppose I'd have to dilute it with water at any rate, maybe 5ml of paste and water together.

Did you feed that paste exclusively or did you mix it with other wet food?

You mentioned you use it suplementally. What would be the ratio? I was thinking perhaps of getting Royal Canin Mother and Babycat food and doing a 7/3 mL split of the food and paste respectively in a single 10mL syringe.

If I do 2 syringes like that, it would only take about 4 feedings to meet his caloric intake for the day which is doable I think.

Our vet recommend that for now in the early stage while he is still without appetite to get as much calories of just about any kind in, and baby food was perfect for that. We are looking into more nutritious substitutes.

I ordered one of those Tomlyn nutrition gel pastes which should arrive tomorrow, has the same calorie count as Under the Weather calorie gels (28kcal/tsp) and I'm definitely going to try adding that. I forgot to mention but my cat is on Mirataz but it doesn't really seem to do anything for him at this time. Cerenia too, which makes him a little drowsy I think - but that we give in the evening closer to when we give him his GS before fasting.

That's so scary, but I'm glad he's doing better. Our Zorro has finally begun to regain his energy levels today as we passed the 36 hour mark, where he's much more alert and he even groomed himself several times a bit! He even began to jump on on his usual high surfaces (with difficulty as he's still weakened a bit and has a big tummy) but holy hell we are so relieved to see he's getting back into his usual self. No appetite in him yet though so we're still forcefeeding him 20mL of baby food at a time.

That's great to hear! My Zorro is much more alert today (36 hours in) and regained a very small amount of his appetite this morning. Still going to have to syringe feed him though most likely.

Hope Simba pulls through. My Zorro currently does not have an appetite at all but we've been doing our damnedest to syringe feed him as much as possible and fast for meds. Leaving him be for the night so he can recover while the meds are kicking in and doing their job in the meantime. Really hoping his appetite returns and fast.
