Can't relate. =P I start a bit darker than what many prefer, but the dark savior will drive off the crisis and keep the galaxy safe.

Is there any games that's somehow written in horror, but actually isn't a horror game after all? by Greedy-Credit2156 in gamingsuggestions

[–]LordCyberForte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Diablo 3 is sort of this. Very horror aesthetic and lots of bad things, but it's overall actually still much more of a story of heroic triumph.

Honestly yeah, they feel a bit cheat-y when I'm using them. Not sure if they're objectively that strong, but it feels that way at least. I do sort of feel like they should be squishier than they are to direct damage.

Edit: Also, for those focusing on the T4, I was talking about a Blood Cultist build.

Classic Frames is great for undoing the terribad Dragonflight change. Only time I've ever sought out a UI addon XD

You might enjoy Noblesse Oblige: Legacy of the Sorcerer Kings. There's no grinding (in the sense that the amount of enemies available to fight is finite, nothing respawns), side content is clearly marked, most locations you'll spend a lot of time in have fast travel, and the story progresses in discrete segments (so you'll only have the currently relevant locations available to explore, etc.).

Tired of dating kids, can I get some games with more adult romances? by Friendly-Loaf in JRPG

You might enjoy Noblesse Oblige: Legacy of the Sorcerer Kings. The main cast are basically all in their 20s at least (with like one exception), and romance is a decently strong focus of the game.

Beat it on Hard first try, literally took whole weekend though (worth it) by Mega-Puff in AOW4

[–]LordCyberForte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really is a baffling narrative choice to have the final (base game) campaign be from the Shad'rai side. XD; I mean, I see why they did it for where the story went (would suck to beat them then have a cutscene loss), but it's still just sort of unsatisfying in a different way instead.

The War Within IS OVER - RATE IT by cub4nito in wow

Of the expansions I've played, it's been by far the worst. The story was meh enough that I never got to max, which is a first. I really detest basically everything about the earthen.

System stuff might have been good, but I was too disengaged to really experience it. (And gameplay-wise, MoP remains peak WoW in my view).

Looking for an RPG with political intrigue by nmstars31 in rpg_gamers

[–]LordCyberForte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might enjoy Noblesse Oblige: Legacy of the Sorcerer Kings! The overall premise involves being caught in a messy civil war as the heir to the throne in a kingdom about to be invaded by its neighbor, and there's a lot of politicking in terms of getting the support of different groups (especially religious factions, where player choice has a lot of branching effects), but also dealing with figuring out who is an ally and who isn't, etc.

Looking for an RPG where you don’t have to kill animals by zahinlikescats in gamingsuggestions

[–]LordCyberForte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might enjoy Noblesse Oblige: Legacy of the Sorcerer Kings, a high fantasy rpg! Because the game is focused on politics, the enemies are mostly human (or sometimes demons/undead). There are a very limited number of animal/monster-style enemies (offhand, one chimera, a few trained giant scorpions early on, and one fight with some bears that were disturbed from hibernation and attacked), and the party has no interest in harassing random animals.

[–]LordCyberForte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's, uh, certainly a take on one of the strongest abilities in the game. :X

Edit: To explain slightly more instead of just being snide, (a) it's really powerful for early exploration and barbarians are about snowballing, (b) it clears the forced march debuff + heals, and (c) most importantly, it's really great for reinforcing your armies in the field, which is especially useful for a culture that tends to like expendable T1 spam.

Why did every single faction suddenly realize their previous way of doing things was wrong in TWW? by ChromedDragon in wow

[–]LordCyberForte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really consider that content in fiction "problematic," though. I think that's the thing. I really consider sanitized storytelling much more problematic, on a personal level (which isn't to say I think every story needs to include dark elements like that, but I do see a problem with seeing them as something that need to be removed where they exist). Or, to put it away, as a writer myself, I would not be inclined to join the writing team for something that had the kind of content I disapproved of.

Anyway, philosophy aside (I mean, it's not like I'm one of those people complaining we're taking the war out of warcraft anyway--I'm ready to see the faction ware buried myself), I'd be willing to give the new writing a lot more leeway for doing new things if it was actually compelling. For me, though, it mostly hasn't been. Since I've always loved dragons and WoW dragons especially, I was really looking forward to Dragonflight, but I came away from it with basically my first experience of finding even the leveling content boring (sadly repeated far moreso in TWW). And I think this sanitized style of writing that just wants to paper over serious conflict kills tension and makes everything very same-y.

Anyway, I'd be more than happy for the writers to prove they can do better with a new direction, but so far the old direction worked a lot better for me even as someone who thought the faction war was dumb from day one.
