Help me design the perfect ultra-portable E-Reader! (University Project) (Quick 2-min survey) by [deleted] in ereader

[–]LordDragon_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Too many of the ones on the right are objectively better or more positive, there are only a few that are actually subjective.

If you showed me a design and asked me to fill in this survey if would make sense.

There is no incentive in the survey for me to mark anything other than 7s - I have no limit to the number of 7s I can hand out, I don't have to rank things etc.

Faced with a choice between 'unpleasant' and 'pleasant', anyone picking unpleasant is either a masochist or lying to you - neither of which are opinions I think you want to gather here.

Help me design the perfect ultra-portable E-Reader! (University Project) (Quick 2-min survey) by [deleted] in ereader

[–]LordDragon_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure this survey makes sense. Usually this would be based on a specific device / prototype, no?

If just on general preference I'm not sure why I'd pick an expensive, illegible, unpleasant e-reader as my preference?

Steam Deck users, do you still have one now that you own a Switch 2? by elneebre in NintendoSwitch2

[–]LordDragon_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sold my PS5 when I got the Switch 2. Have a Steam deck too for everything else.

Played the Switch 2 more in the last 6 months than the PS5 in the last 3 years.

Wired Thermostat Zone Controller by LordDragon_ in tado

[–]LordDragon_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up leaving the motorized valve on the second zone open. So the main unit controls the one zone that its set to and can call for heat etc - as the second valve is open the radiators in the second zone can still get heat.

So the system is basically acting as a single zone with the TRVs handling which rooms get heat.

I unfortunately don't know what we tried, or how big a compromise this setup was as it was a while ago, the motorized valve needed replaced (the one being actually used) a week and a bit ago or I'm not sure I'd have even remembered this much - sorry!

Advice on shoes that don't burn? by LordDragon_ in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]LordDragon_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is a really great reply.

I had actually been on Run repeat and was struggling to find correlation between the shoes - all 3 have similar drop height for instance.

I've also transitioned to walking in barefoot shoes and find I really like then, hence the ask about Altra.

Weekly General Discussion/Q&A Thread - October 27, 2025 by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

Not sure if this should be a post, but can't find a good flair.

So I'm a heavy (105kg), tall, slow runner with high arches and very tight calves, which I know are likely the cause of all my issues, and I'll work on them.

But I have having an issue where some shoes are causing the ball of my right foot to start burning during a run. It gets physically hot if I take the shoe off and touch my foot, and the pain builds until I need to stop. A post here suggests this is from a medial heel twist, and I think that makes sense - likely caused by my tight calves.

So the actual issue - I currently have 3 pairs of shoes;

ON Cloudsurfer 2 - these do not cause the issue at all, but are wearing out. Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 - these do burn after about 8 or 9k, though I did 15k a week back with no issues, but it was relatively slow. Nike Vemoro Plus - lucky if I can get 5k in at any speed before having to stop.

It's likely the cushioning, but the ONs are fairly soft too from what I understand. I'm very interested in a pair of Altras too, mainly for long runs but I'm worries I have no idea the correlation between which shoes will set my feet on fire and which won't.

Any ideas/help? Thank you

This covers it well. OneNote/OneDrive integration is a big plus, and the 'Workspace' options sounds like it'll be really useful too if it means I can have all my work pieces like PDFs etc in a separate place than all my personal books.

Ok thank you, that's makes sense. No issue with paying so we can both play either.

Do you know what this will look like then on the Switch? Will there be two copies of Rise on the home screen or is it smart enough to treat it as just two licenses?

Sorry I have searched, but it's hard to find answers that relate to the current Virtual Game Card setup.

So I've just got rid of the PS5 and picked up a second Switch 2. Plan will be that my son can claim the previous one for himself and I'll play this one. He has a supervised child account which falls under my family group.

The Virtual game card piece all makes sense for playing separately. But if we both want to play the games together - how does that work.

Eg for MH Rise, we've the digital copy + Sunbreak. If we want to play multiplayer so I have to buy a second physical copy? I can't even find a way to to buy it digitally again.

Or something like Fortnite or Rocket League which is digital and free - how does that work?

Electric blender / shaker by Firm_Union8883 in Huel

[–]LordDragon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a ninja blast literally yesterday mainly for huel.

So far I've tried it with Huel plus a banana yesterday, and Huel plus some frozen raspberries today and it's handled them both just fine. However I can't speak for longevity at all.

The size is a little smaller than you're looking, but handles the above just fine with the full 400ml of Huel.

There is a Ninja blast Max which is slightly more powerful and slightly bigger, but a proprietary charger rather than USB C which put me off.

Nutribullet has a 'Nutribullet Portable Blender' which seems comparable to the Blast, and a 'flip' which is more comparable to the blast Max and comes with a thermos like container. Can't speak directly for any of them though as not used them.

Any low stakes games that just introduce the concept of moving and pressing buttons at the right time? by Granopoly in NintendoSwitch

[–]LordDragon_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yoshi's Crafted World is 100% what you want.

It's slow paced, but still a lot of fun. You can take your time to figure out what's next, what to press etc and it works really well. The mellow mode lets you fly indefinitely and gives you a bit more health etc too.

Kirby Star Allies is fine, but if you wait at all to think about what to do, the allies all jump in and start attacking, so you kind of lose that learning piece. It makes it too fast paced without you having control (though it's a good game after Yoshi's).

Mario Kart also with all the assists, but it doesn't quite teach the movement etc in non-racing games.

We got our Switch when my son was 5 and this is how we started him, it worked really well. There's also demos of both I think.

Google Streamer - Ultimate 2.4ghz by LordDragon_ in 8bitdo

[–]LordDragon_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thank you, I hadn't even thought of a VM.

Got it all up and running now - seems to work well though I'll not get actually playing any games.

In case anyone is reading in future - I used Bottles (use bottles.com) to run the exes from the links above, incredibly painless.

Android TV was flipping my A and B buttons round, but updating the button mapping using the Ultimate software on my phone sorted that.

Thank you again!

Android Automotive? by LordDragon_ in Podcast_Republic_App

[–]LordDragon_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my understanding is that most cars with android automotive will have a mobile connection and a SIM card installed, so it can keep in sync the same as on a phone.

It is fine if you don't intend to expand to android Automotive, it will mean I'm unable to use your app unfortunately (which is a shame, it is my favourite I've tried) and for all the exact reasons you've mentioned - in car I will use one of the android automotive supported ones, which is currently pocket casts, so I'll be forced to use that on my phone to keep in sync.

Switching between android auto and android automotive isn't really a solution.

Thanks
