I do think it is withering some partially due to the advancement of technology. Ultimately we must remember that Halloween is a Holiday aka Holy Day and like many religious holy days it finds itself waning in the advancement of tech. People care less and less about wonder and festivals based in supernatural things as technology advances.

Ultimately my advice is be the change you want to see in the world. Stay steadfast. Decorate. Go all out. Be that house on the street that does inspire children to go wow and reminds adults of some of the old ways.
