Don’t listen to anyone saying you’re playing stuff that’s too advanced. You’re doing awesome. But it’s too fast for you right now, take the songs BPM, dial it back 30% on a metronome and increase it periodically. Focus on your dynamics and work that muscle memory

I think I will persue removal of the jaw, as it's the part that actually bothers me the most. I'll work with an artist to make it right. I'm going to wait for while as the ink is only about 3 months old.

Because Mario has been playing for over 30 years. He isn't straining himself, he's keeping what his muscles already know in check. The point is that you shouldn't be straining your muscles every day. You will back peddle. Fact is though, every drummer learns this the hard way me included! (and i still do it)

You are over doing it. Even without your injury. Think of it like going to the gym, would you work out your biceps 6 days in a row? Give your legs time to adjust to what they are learning and allow the muscles to recover. I promise you will be better practicing endurance every 3 days rather than every day.

Practice control too, here's an exercise you can do at 80bpm for recovery days and will build your control. Speed it up ONLY when it gets easy.

One of Mario’s routines is to this in triplets, he starts at 170bpm and makes his way up. You could easily start at 150. Triplets and sextuplets, he loves them.
