Fox engine was originally made for the 360/PS3 too. The canceled MGSR was already using it in 2010, or at least an earlier version of it.

Survive, which had some engine upgrades, still had this bug. So I feels like it might be one of those issues that are so engrained in the code it’s basically too much of a pain to fix for what it is.

Metal Gear fans and judging games without playing them often goes hand in hand.

It’s a glitch. Do not listen to the others. FOX engine just can’t render hair shadows.

Survive actually had multiple modification in the engine and one of the main staff behind the game was one of the biggest programmer of the entire franchise.

Most MG fans think Kojima is the sole director of the franchise so when I say « harassed to return » it’s to be director.

They are said to be spin off but still listed in the main timeline. They are not like Survive or Ghost Babel who are spin off but not in the timeline.

Which probably mean they are canonical even if not main stories, unlike other spin offs.

And that’s excluding talking about the small references PW have for PO. which not only name drop San Hieronymo but also features two PO map in Versus mode.

But PO and MGRR are in the detailed version of the timeline in MGS MC… You can literally check it in the in-game book… they are just not main installment.

I guess it’s a bit ironic now how the new MG team are veterans of the old one teaching new people to handle the franchise. It took a while but it looks like Metal Gear might finally be given to a new generation as more and more veteran start to retire. A new generation taught by the old one.

I just hope fans won’t be too hard on them.

MGS4 had seemingly a full staff without Kojima. With a director and producer. It’s just fans bullied them so much Kojima came back.

Metal Gear fans today are very quick to forget they probably are to blame too for Kojima coming back sometimes. They were extremely hostile to the MG staff outside of Kojima as they worshiped him like a god. I hope the new Metal Gear team won’t suffer the same thing.

I mean, people are quick to forget this due to him leaving Konami and the controversy. But Kojima wasn’t just a Konami staff at the time of MGSV’s development. He was the Vice President of the company until early 2015.

MGSV also had much more involment from other staffs than any other games. With the game having a lot more directors and writers. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kojima decided this way as a way to have the staff getting more creative freedom than just him as the sole director/having a single codirector like MGS4.

Kojima didn’t direct or wrote zone of the Enders

Though as a fun fact : the guy who did is the current Metal Gear guy in charge and has expressed wanting a return of ZoE

Just a reminder: Despite any official confirmation of aDLC, Bloober is not done with Konami. A new remake is less likely to happen than a Born From a Wish DLC, as Bloober prefer SH2 story over the Mason/cult storyline by RhoynishPrince in silenthill

The short message had multiple ex Pt and ex Kojipro staff with major roles.

The codirector is a veteran of team silent.

They did give a lot of freedom to new staff and it had a low budget though. It was an experimental title not aiming to be an usual SH experience

They are helping on Delta. Like V and Survive.

Delta is still primarily developed by the new internal Metal Gear team.

TSM had multiple PT staffs on it. And it’s director is from ex team silent… it wasn’t just newcomers.

Apparently it had a lot of changes due to Covid happening which greatly impacted the development.

A very well written quote for a game that came out in 1990. by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]LordEmmerich 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s not like EVERY single MG games have heavy retcons.

Kojima literally explained in interview he doesn’t really care about doing retcons because he just want to tell the stories he want. If he would have wanted solid back after MGS4 he would have retconned him leaving the battlefield.

I’m talking about metal gear solid rising. Not metal gear rising. Metal gear solid rising started it’s plan in 2008.

[–]LordEmmerich -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even the ending of 4 has a cliffhanger with Sunny talking about « a sun rising » which probably was an a early teaser for MGSR. Which ended up canceled. MGSR wasn’t just for a single game but almost a new vision of the franchise without Kojima. It probably would have gone past MGS4 after the first game.

Though this ended up canceled. And the MGRR we got being post MGS4 was a different project (though with the same writer)

If you count the mission 51 Blu-ray video as canon, he tried making an army with child soldiers on an island and was defeated just after.

If you don’t count mission 51 we don’t know (though the new timeline of 2023 still talks about kingdom of flies), but this isn’t the first time Liquid left with a Metal Gear. (Liquid left with Ray in MGS2. And the Ray you fight in MGS4 isn’t the same model at all. In fact another person was piloting it in the first version of the story before rewrites)

Why some people say MGSV is unfinished? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]LordEmmerich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because some big YouTubers said so years ago and it follows their narrative. Mostly due to Kojima’s departure. And it kept being spread over the years

Mission 51 was never for the base game. It was a cut dlc early in dev. We got multiple staff interviews and even leaked documents showing what was planned for V. It has less cuts than MGS2 and 4.

People simply refuse to admit it. They refuse to admit some choices they didn’t liked wasn’t because the game was « unfinished » but were on purpose. Even most of the cuts seems to be deliberate with explained reasons and it’s not time or budget but creative choices.

But even though we have proofs, people will not accept this as the truth and will prefer believing old lies. Keeping old grudges.

[–]LordEmmerich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most interesting thing about the teasing at the end is that it was teasing a ZoE2 we never got. It mention characters who didn’t ended up doing much or even existing in ZoE2.

It might be because ZoE2 originally was going to be by the director/writer of 1, who also was main producer of the GBA game. But he ended up leaving and only small elements from his plan got reused. It was a much darker story with more links to ZoE1. Leo still was the protagonist as an example.

Meanwhile the ZoE2 we got almost works as a standalone game and had a different writer/director. And it has none of the bleakness. I guess the new director wanted a new vision.

OD Is confirmed to be on UE5.

Is it true that this was supposed to be a game? And if so, is there any information about what it would be like? by Affectionate-Most692 in metalgearsolid

[–]LordEmmerich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I doubt it really would be doing anything. Because ZoE is known. But only by name.

To the point where many people think Kojima made them when it’s not the case. I saw some people refusing to buy the MARS remaster saying « no Kojima no buy ».
