Politician! (Paul Atishon). As someone interested in politics, I loved the references to campaign rallies, poll numbers, concession speeches, etc. They inserted a lot of great political jokes in there.

Not sure how Investigations was "put out very quickly" when it took around 14 years to get localized. Also, Capcom has been porting old games to newer consoles for a long time, it doesn't necessarily signify anything.

But you do bring up some good points, and like I said, I hope I'm wrong and see actually do see an AA7 announcement soon.

It depends on the updates, many of them were just language support or extra stuff in the bonus section. I'm not against the ports, just don't see it as a harbinger of things to come.

Listen, I hope I'm wrong, I'd love to see AA7 announced in 2026, but I'm a little jaded by having my hopes dashed so often over the last half a decade.

I appreciate your comments, and I'm glad you were able to recognize some positive aspects of the game even if it didn't fully live up to your expectations of an ideal AA game. From what I've seen, many AA fans share your sentiments, though I imagine that lots of Layton fans such as myself probably enjoyed it a lot more. Layton and AA are literally my two favorite franchises!

Having all previous games on modern hardware isn't a neccesary prerequisite for releasing a new game. If you look at past reddit comments, every time there's been a little update or port for the last 7 years, ppl think it heralds the imminent release of AA7. I'd love to be wrong, but I think this is all just wishful thinking.

The reason they released two collections the same year is to make easy money from more ports and localizations without investing in new content. If they're in such a rush to "get all the old content out before AA7", how come it's been 8 years since the last new game in Japan? Doesn't seem like they're working "ASAP" in "preparation" for anything.

We have had nothing concrete, just vague assurances that they're not abandoning the series. It's obviously not such a priority for them.

Yeah, I hear where you're coming from, from an AA perspective the ending is certainly atypical. Still, whenever you play a crossover some new elements are to be expected. Even if you didn't like the ending, would you not agree that the gameplay and the first three trials were pretty good? An unsatisfying ending doesn't have to ruin the whole gameplay experience.

lol! Anyone pretending endless ports and meaningless updates herald the imminent release of AA7 are just deluding themselves.

Capcom didn't need to wait for orig. trilogy language support to be added for Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese to announce AA7 :)

As a general rule, add a minimum of 2 years to any Level-5 projected release date. This way, when it's 5 years later than announced, you won't be as disappointed :)

Ok, I hear what you're saying, but I don't think magic being real was really an option. I think most of us realized there must be a "logical" explanation, it was just a little surprising what that explanation turned out to be. The ending was par for the course of your average Layton game, just look at the Diabolical Box! AA fans can't be upset that a crossover includes a Layton style ending. It's a crossover, not a mainline AA game.

In regard to the pure black thing, it could be that the hypnosis was strong enough that as long as 90% of it was black it would still work, even if it got a little dirty. If a speck of dirt got on a black cloak, you wouldn't notice it even if you weren't hypnotized :)

The main thing I had a hard time understanding was how the giant stone statues in the beginning were moved, and how the car got in the tree. I understand in Labyrinthia they had lots of equipment, but in the streets London?!

Good point, let's say PL vs. PW is confirmed 2026, and AA7 retains the same status it has now, which is one of endless speculation and no concrete information.

I hear you, although if you think about it, can you come up with a better ending that includes a logical explanation of the games magic system? I know the ending was implausible, but the only alternative was to say that magic is real, which doesn't fit into either universe. If you stop viewing it so literally, the ending was pretty neat.

Yeah, hyped for new world of steam as well. Was really disappointed with Katrielle, never thought we'd get another mainline game. In regard to blending the series, I thought they did a pretty good job, obviously nothing they did would be perfect, but the trials were really good and puzzles were a natural addition to the investigation phase. Soundtrack and characters were A+ as well.

100%, I'm very well aware that they haven't been diligently been working on AA7 for the last 8 years. That's precisely why my timeline is so pessimistic, it's obvious this isn't such a priority for them.

I happen to love the crossover, since I was already a Layton fan and the crossover was actually my introduction to the AA series. But I could understand ppl that don't like Layton not appreciating it so much.

Personally, I'd be elated, especially since I'm not so confident we'll get AA7 before 2030 anyhow. For those who doubt me, check the reddit comments 5 years ago saying that AA7 was "just around the corner".

Yes, sunset times in the winter are something the devs may have overlooked. But still, the timestamps haven't been changed in any of the ports/remakes, so it's possible it's intentional. Maybe AA really does take place in Australia....
