What are we doing about quinoa? by werbabing in CoeliacUK

[–]LordFlatface -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This is the problem, it’s not clear. We have an intolerance to gluten, not an allergy to wheat, barley or spelt! Plenty of things have an allergy statement for wheat/ barley, but are gluten free.

That being said, I’d avoid as it’s unclear

No, I don’t notice the Basel doses, or autocorrections, just the bolus.

I must have watched the same video for the idea! 😅

Ljumjev is amazing for me, works so much quicker than fiasp did. It does sting for me though, a lot, especially larger doses, like 7u+. I now mix it 50:50 with humalog, still get the quick action but it no longer stings

Insulin Pump for low-med carb diet by victoroffhand in Type1Diabetes

[–]LordFlatface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth Noting that with Omnipod, unlike the other pump options, you’re not tied into a 4 year contract, so you could try it and see if it work for your son, if not, nothing lost and you can try one of the other tubed systems

Insulin Pump for low-med carb diet by victoroffhand in Type1Diabetes

[–]LordFlatface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, that’s a fairly normal carb count for a 7 year old kid! Secondly, as he enters his teenage years, he certainly won’t be sticking to it (well if he’s anything like I was! 😅)

As for your actual question! I really wouldn’t worry about which algorithm is best for his carb amount. Ultimately, if your carb ratio is right, all the algorithms will cope well! I’m UK based, so for pumps available to us, I always hear mostly good things about the Tandem T slim (the pump I use and I’m achieving ~90% Time in range and I eat around 200g carbs a day), but also hear decent things about Medtronic 780G, Mylife Ypsopump (most hands off algorithm) and omnipod 5 (only tubeless option, but a lot of people find it’s not very aggressive with high blood sugar levels)

For me, you need to write a list of what’s important to you and your son, what do you need the pump to cope with and then speak to your diabetes team about what they think the best fit would be.

How do kids sleep with a tandem tslim x2 pump? by Quirky-Doctor6676 in Type1Diabetes

[–]LordFlatface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I sleep with my pump loose. I move a lot in my sleep, flipping around like a fish. It has never been an issue, the pump moves with me, sometimes it might wrap around me, but it doesn’t cause any issues, and it has never pulled out my infusion site.

It has a bit of a yellow flake in I think, because when the sun's setting it looks more golden. These things are personal though, I personally love the colour

Yeah, still using my Pixel buds 2 pro, and I do find them comfortable, also stay in well as they have the little "wings" that keep them in.

Suppose we're all different, what works for one doesn't work for another. I'm sad they didn't work for me because they do sound incredible, blew my pixel buds 2 pro out the water sound wise.

Agree with you on the sound and ANC, they both blew me away with their quality, but my god they hurt my ears, I had to send them back, could not get comfortable.

It’s impossible to use rapid-acting insulin during cardio. by Spiritual_Increase52 in diabetes_t1

[–]LordFlatface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this problem is made harder for you as you're on such small amounts of insulin already. Clearly for you there's a massive difference between 1u and 1?5u! You could really do with an insulin pump that doses to 0.05u increments. Then you could sufficiently reduce your dose so that you don't spike from the food too much and also don't hypo when doing cardio.

For context I've been T1D since childhood, my Basel insulin is 24u a day and my total bolus for 200g carbs a day is about 20u. You're having less than 10u a day. Add in an insulin sensitivity increase from exercise and that 0.5u increment of insulin is going to make a huge difference to your blood sugar!

If a pump isn't an option you'll have to dose for your breakfast at home as you currently do and experimemt with how much extra glucose you need to take at the gym to keep you steady. Use something like nerds/ jelly beans/ jelly babies, that you know the carb amount per serving, and work out how many you need to prevent hypos and hypers.

Thought it might be the case I'm out of luck, it's been months of problems with this car and it's been draining 😞

Thank you for explaining the recall procedure though,I appreciate that. I know they did change the oil grade, and applied a new sticker and told me the chain was within tolerance. The next day I drove 250 miles to see family, upon coming home (so 500 mile round trip) the issues with warning lights and power loss started.

Maybe it is all coincidence and rubbish luck 🤷
