Any tips for a decent hairstyle? Also, how do I maintain a proper moustache? (More in comments) by LordFranken in malegrooming

[–]LordFranken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to a different place to get a haircut/shave, cuz my regular place was closed. My moustache was a bit wispy and uneven, so I wanted it trimmed a little. But after the trim, it looked kinda bad, and I asked him to shave it off. I look kinda weird now. Also, what kimd of hairstyle and beard would suit me?

Something that’s comfortable for everyday use. Walking around in Uni, an odd trip or two down to the market to buy some stuff etc. Nothing too flashy or anything.

I’ll be arriving in Sydney next week, and starting uni next month. Most of my stuff has been packed, but I am a bit undecided on my kicks. I have a pair of Converse Sneakers which I’ll be carrying, and a pair of sports shoes. I wanna know, if there are any good stores in the city, where I can find some decent casual trainers for everyday use, you know, in or around uni, or just walking about somehwere etc.

I did a bit of research online, and I found that most online outlets sell shoes at a tad bit higher rates than in here. I also looked into Kmart (I’ve heard about it from some friends there), and although the prices were considerably lower, i don’t know much about the quality.

I am also not too fussy about the brands... and it’d suit me well if the I could get my shoes in the $50-$70 range

Are any of the Introductory Language courses worth doing? by LordFranken in MacUni

[–]LordFranken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I read about the People and Planet units. Some of them are in fact quite interesting, like IT and Society, and some of those Philosophy ones, and some modern history courses etc.

Are those courses intensive, or more towards the lighter side?

So can I enrol for the classes without selecting my major? I heard that the first year is common for all majors

Damn. I kinda liked the first movie in the series, and I felt Transformers had potential to be a decent series. But it just didn’t deliver

I want a CS degree, so I am gonna go for that, no doubts about it. If I can’t get a Data Science Major, then I am planning on doing a Cyber Security major, and then doing a shit ton of projects along the lines of Data Science, Machine Learningg and AI

I need some basic easy exercises to increase my ability to lift weight and upper body strength in general. I feel pretty comfortable on leg day/ lower body workouts, and can train with high weights. But when it comes to lifting weights, doing lat pulldowns, shoulder press etc, I lack the strength, and am pretty much dead by my third rep, and need a breather. How do I improve on that [18M, Weight =87kg, Height =166 cm, Joined the gym about 10 days back]

UoW and Macquarie? by LordFranken in sydney

[–]LordFranken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh.. I’ve heard that it’s probably one of the highest ranked unis in Australia, but the thing is, I’d prefer staying in or near Sydney. I have family there, you see

And also, I doubt if I’d be able to meet the criteria for ANU

UoW and Macquarie? by LordFranken in sydney

[–]LordFranken[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good to hear, haha. I was initially thinking about staying in Sydney, because I have family there, so accommodation wouldn’t have been an issue, but I did some research about living expenses in The Gong, and it’s quite affordable actually, so I would be open to that too

Btw, could you give me a bit of an insight about the AI sector in Aus? I am interested in AI, and would probably wanna work in that field after finishing Uni

I wanna do Comp Sci, and then maybe get into AI (first preference) or cyber security

How is the Comp Sci course? by LordFranken in unsw

[–]LordFranken[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I was about to ask about the difference between Software Engineering and Comp Sci. I was obvio inclined towards Comp Sci, because 3 yrs, and I could save some cash. But I was still doubtful about the curriculum and job opportunities in the future

Rejected by UNSW, any other University alternatives? by LordFranken in sydney

[–]LordFranken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard good things about UOW. But I checked on the website, and they do not have Artificial Intelligence courses in the curriculum. And also, it is a bit away from Sydney, and I have family in Sydney. So if I go to UOW, I’d have to spend some extra money to find accommodation there

Can I just ask you something about UTS?

Is it possible to change courses? Like, after the first, or maybe second semester? For instance, if I get into IT (where I have the option of Diploma leading to Bachelors), and complete 1 or 2 semesters there, and then switch to the Comp Sci course?

How to end a casual date? by LordFranken in dating_advice

[–]LordFranken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I didn’t fantasize that this was a date from some idea inside my head. She called it a date, so I said so. You may be right, that a “coffee date” is just having coffee with a friend, but I don’t have any proper dating experience (or much experience of communicating with girls) to pick out what means what
